Melissa Joan Hart proved she's not above teasing her fans.

The 39-year-old posted a snap to Instagram on Wednesday of a bruise on her cheek, created by movie magic with the aid of some make-up. 

Standing right behind her was fellow actress Debra Messing in the behind-the-scenes photo from on set of The Mysteries Of Laura.

Another clue was given when she posted a snap from her point-of-view while lying on the ground in-between takes.

Melissa captioned the shot: 'My POV of @janinagavankar on our night shoot at #mysteriesoflaura. #BTS @megsteedle is on my back during this pic. @nbclaura'. 

Her episode on the show airs on Wednesday night on NBC.

Meanwhile, Melissa's ABC Family sitcom with Joey Lawrence was cancelled earlier this year.

The 5ft2in blonde will conclude her role as Ohio politician Mel Burke in the fourth and final season, which resumes in August.

The former Dancing With the Stars contestant has also just launched her new clothing collection for boys, King of Harts.
