Moment a Sikh man removes his Turban to save boys life

A New Zealand student who broke strict religious protocol by taking off his turban to help save the life of a child hit by a car has been heralded as a hero. Harman Singh, 22, removed his turban to help cradle the bleeding head of a five-year-old boy who had been struck on his way to school. Mr Singh heard the accident take place outside his home, before running outside to investigate. He broke strict Sikh protocol by removing his turban, but has been dubbed a hero. Turbans become a part of a Sikh's body and are usually removed only in the privacy of their own house. Normally this is in the most intimate of circumstances, when bathing the head, or washing the hair. Since the incident occurred, Mr Singh has received thousands of messages and comments on his Facebook page. 'Thousands of people have said "well done". I was only doing what I had to and trying to be a decent member of the community,' he said.

Chuck-it-in Chuka's shady secret: MP belongs to members-only 'den' where he has his own £300 cognac locker and a bar named after him - so is this what rattled Labour leadership contender?

Labour's belongs to members-only 'den' where he has own £300 cognac locker

For a potential Labour leader it's the most unlikely of venues. Not a working men's club in the Labour heartlands where a pint of bitter and a packet of crisps can be bought for loose change, but a members-only 'den' tucked away behind The Bank of England where steaks cost £150 and a bottle of cognac, top right, can set you back £4,000. Chuka Umunna, left, is such a frequent visitor to the club, centre, that he has his own special key to a secret entrance to the restaurant - where Tinie Tempah, his personal friend, played an opening show which featured a polo champion riding around on a horse, bottom right. But it's a world many of his Labour-supporting Streatham constituents could only dream of. The revelations about Mr Umunna's nocturnal activities come as intrigue continues to swirl over the reasons for his withdrawal from the Labour Party leadership contest, just days after throwing his hat into the ring.

The tragic family secret of Chuka Umunna

Chuka Umunna's father, Bennett (right), was killed in mysterious car crash in Nigeria which friends fear was a 'political assassination'. Mr Umunna was the bookies' favorite to emerge as Labour leader, but bowed out of the contest claiming he was not ready to put himself and his family through the intense scrutiny that comes with the position. It is thought his fierce protection of the women in his life, pictured (left) with his mother Patricia and sister Chinwe, could have stemmed from the fact that he was forced to become the 'man of the family' aged just 13. The high-flying MP for Streatham, in south London, also wanted to protect the privacy of his girlfriend, Alice Sullivan, with whom he is planning to start a family.
