Would you agree that London sets the agenda for style?

Yes fashion in London is very exciting at the moment. You see it with London Fashion Week and London Collections: Men. People come from all around the world to be inspired and see what is coming out of the capital.

Who inspires your look?

For my mum style is everything. She works in photography, interior design and fashion so from a very young age I have been around someone who is very creative. She is one of my inspirations but my style icons are Pharrell Williams, Johnny Depp and Ralph Lauren.

In the FROW: London Fashion Week attracts big names from across the globe

Where do you go to seek creative inspiration?

I was brought up in Chelsea. My office and studio are based there and so is my home. However, I can often be found in east London. In terms of style, fashion and creativity it is an amazing place. There is also so much space there. The warehouses are incredible. I also love Notting Hill in terms of bars and restaurants. It has a great vibe.

Which architecture do you admire?

I love the V&A. That building is unbelievable. I always wonder how they get the artefacts in there. Some of the stuff is so vast. The Natural History Museum is another wonderful place. When you live in London you often walk past these buildings and take them for granted. When I was in New York I was always looking up and now that I am back in London I do the same. You see London in a different light.

What would you do as mayor for a week?

I would lower the cost of public transport and I would increase the government grants and funding for young creatives such as fashion designers and artists.  I went to Newcastle University and studied Fine Art. When I left and was trying to make it as an artist it was so hard to find the money to buy materials or rent a studio. I was a a painter but I was always into fashion and for me the move from art into fashion was very organic.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

I love my work for Made in Chelsea and being on the show has been an amazing journey but I am really focusing on my label Serge De Nimes. I will also be doing creative collaborations under my own name so watch this space.
