Take fashion to new levels with an asymmetric hemline

Natalie Portman has been to Cannes numerous times before, but only ever as an actor. She's stepped away from the norm this time by making her directorial debut, but what she has been sticking to if not acting, is her slick style. Today at the Tale of Love and Darkness photo call, she even stepped away from her usual dress style.

As she posed, Natalie stunned in a Rodarte dress that featured a sheer skirt which flashed her panties - a popular theme with celebrities these days it seems!

Panties aside, we loved the embellishment on this number, not to mention the asymmetric hemline which is set to be big this season thanks to designers Anthony Vaccarello, Reem Acra and Chanel.

Natalie looked gorgeous in the unusual dress which featured an asymmetric skirt and intricate beadwork on the bodice.

The black skirt featured feathers on the hem and was almost completely sheer, with the star flashing her underwear as she twirled for the cameras.

Floaty sleeves and delicate sequin flowers finished off the pretty dress, while the star added some strappy black heels to finish off her glam look.

Natalie let her dress shine by keeping the rest of her look simple with her brunette locks styled into an elegant bun and finishing things off with a pale pink lip and blusher.

It tells the story of his memories of growing up in Jerusalem in the years before Israeli statehood with his parents; his academic father, Arieh, and his imaginative mother, Fania, played by Portman.

They were one of many Jewish families who moved to Palestine from Europe during the 1903s and 1940s to escape persecution.

Natalie was born in Israel and lived there until she was three, before her family moved to the Unites States.
