The American Center France
The American Center France site received its official launch on October 26, 2009 during the seminar “Building the future of Franco-American Associations” held at France Amériques in Paris for 100 association leaders.
Objectives
The American Center France builds synergy between institutions promoting Franco-American friendship. We define Franco-American friendship in the broadest sense, from culture to politics, and from heritage to trade. We present such institutions as: foundations, think tanks, associations, and exchange organizations.
Functionalities
The site offers a directory of institutions; a shared calendar for Franco-American events; pertinent news; and background papers about Franco-American relations. The site is intended to serve as a space for advocates of Franco-American friendship to meet across generations and across the Atlantic, in both French and in English.
Homage
This virtual “American Center France” also pays homage to the physical, Paris-based American Cultural Centers that animated Franco-American cultural relations throughout much of the twentieth century.
