Chrissy Teigen fails to notice her dress toppled a woman over during opening sequence of Billboard Music Awards in Vegas

Her first-time hosting the Billboard Music Awards did not go without a hitch.

At the top of the awards ceremony, Chrissy Teigen made a grand entrance with co-host Ludacris walking through the aisles of the star-studded audience inside the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old model, she failed to notice that her floor-length red Johanna Johnson had accidentally tripped a woman who was rushing to her seat. And of course, the incident has become a viral hit on Vine and Twitter for all to replay.

Stun in scarlet like Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen went all out at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas last night.

But then she was the host so we'd expect her to change from one glamorous look to another and she didn't disappoint. Chrissy walked the red carpet in a striped jumpsuit by Balmain before starting the show in this red strapless gown by Johanna Johnson.

If this Australian designer is new to you then now's the time to check her out. Better known for her stunning bridal gowns, Johnson's red carpet dresses are beloved of stars like Jennifer Lopez, Emily Blunt, Kendall Jenner, Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, and Angelina Jolie to name just a few.

Chrissy's bandeau dress is gorgeous and while it has a simple silhouette, the sheer skirt and thigh high split give it the wow factor. Click (right) to take a look at Johnson's current collection or recreate Chrissy's look with our edit below.

Asos, Missguided, Zappos and 6pm have all got scarlet styles that will ensure you turn heads at your next big event.

Chrissy and Ludacris made the bold decision to interact with the crowd moments before their monologue, a decision that she now may be regretting.

As the voiceover introduced the co-hosts of the night, the wife of singer John Legend had just about made it to the stage and began to walk up the stairs to the microphone when her flowy chiffon train had entangled with a woman's heel.

The female - dressed in a blue gown - appeared to be scurrying to her seat before the start of the show and took a tumble in front of Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun.

Chrissy briefly noticed that her long gown was caught on something, but tried to be a professional and continue on with the show. She failed to help the fallen woman up as she joined Ludacris for their opening statements.

However, Scooter - who also manages the night's performer Tori Kelly - had a noticeably shocked reaction on his face as he got a front row seat to not only the show, but also the Teigen trip.

Chrissy's hosting duties also seemed to have fallen apart. The Sports Illustrated cover girl did not seem to impress viewers at home with her amateur emceeing.

Two-time host Ludacris kicked off the show by listing his qualifications for why he made a good broadcaster saying: 'You see I'm a hip-hop artist, a former radio personality and I'm blessed to be in one of the biggest box office hits of the year.'

While Chrissy blatantly added: 'And I bang a musician.'

And the uncomfortable John Legend references did not stop there. She even called her famous husband 'her brother' when she introduced him and Meghan Trainor's world debut performance of their duet Like I'm Gonna Lose You.

No telling if there are more hosting opportunities for Chrissy in the future but she serves as 'Color Commentator' on the hit Spike series Lip Sync Battle with experienced Grammy Award host LL Cool J.
