Cheeky chick! Gwyneth Paltrow, 42, wears shorts so short they show off her bottom as she steps out for lunch in Venice Beach 

She wasn't always fit as a fiddle.

But Gwyneth Paltrow has worked hard to sculpt her physique and was keen on showing off the fruits of her labour on Sunday.

The 42-year-old actress proudly put her toned legs and pert posterior on display in tiny black shorts as she strolled around Venice Beach, California.

The Mortdecai star created a more modest look by layering a black button-down cardigan over her top.

But she still appeared uber chic, spicing up her casual ensemble with a pair of strappy black gladiator sandals that tied around her calves.

Gwyneth's blonde locks were slightly wavy and pulled back into a ponytail, as her eye were concealed with funky clear-rimmed sunglasses.

The mother-of-two was leaving a restaurant, seeming to be carrying a to-go box of leftovers, as a quilted grey Chanel tote slung over her shoulder.

The 42-year-old mom of two showed off her toned legs in mini black shorts, her legs weren't the only things that were showing-shorts have a tendency to ride up which meant paparazzi got to see Gwyn's more cheeky side...pun intended.

Her itty bitty shorts were accompanied my a black cardigan and gladiator sandals, but look at that bag she's carrying! The actress was sporting a gray Chanel CC Delivery large tote.

The Oscar-winning actress has Tracy Anderson to thank for her enviable figure.

In 2013, the 40-year-old celebrity trainer revealed the blonde beauty once had a 'long butt' and 'outer thigh problems.' 

Speaking to Intothegloss.com, Tracy said: 'I agreed to meet with Gwyneth, and she said, "I’ve got this movie coming up where I have to be a superhero." It was the very first Iron Man.

'She said, "I know you have a son - I just had Moses - and I can’t get this weight off. I’ve never had a problem like this in my life."

'She had 35 extra pounds on her. Her butt was long and she had outer thigh problems. Gwyneth is lucky because she’s really tall, so she can hide it really well in clothes, but she had significant problem areas.' 

The former dancer and savvy Gwyneth are now business partners. Together they've produced four exercise DVDs - each of which has sold in excess of 20,000 copies in Britain alone - and a book, Tracy Anderson's 30-Day Method.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth - who separated from Chris Martin last eyar - has recently been romancing Glee creator Brad Falchuk, 44, and she will next be seen in the film 33 Dias.
