FIRST LOOK: Dylan O'Brien discovers he's still a prisoner after escaping the Glade in the post-apocalyptic trailer for Maze Runner: Scorch Trials

In The Maze runner Dylan O'Brien and his friends finally escaped from the Glade. 

But the first official trailer for the sequel Maze Runner: Scorch Trials sees Group A out of the frying pan and into the fire, so to speak.

The pack of young men (and a young woman) find themselves locked in a labyrinthine conspiracy, of which there seems little hope of solving let alone escaping with their lives.

Thomas (Dylan) and his friends are saved by a mysterious group from their imprisonment in the maze at the end of the first film. 

Picking up where they left off, the former 'Gladers' find themselves living in a sealed off building led by Game Of Thrones actor Aidan Gillen who plays the cryptic Janson.

'The world outside is hanging on by a very thin thread. Beyond this door lies the beginning of your new lives,' Janson tells the group at the beginning of the trailer.

The group soon discovers they were not the only group to have been tested, tortured, and trialed in a brutal maze as they meet other young people who were rescued.  

Being interviewed by Janson, Thomas says: 'I remember them sending me to the maze. I remember watching my friends die.'

'Why this all happened,' Janson says mysteriously.

But Thomas soon discovers a dirty secret, as he tells his friends: 'They lied to us, we never escaped. This is all a part of their plan.'

The rest of the trailer sees the group escape from Janson's compound only discover the world outside is even harsher and more difficult to survive.

A massive city lies buried in the sand as the metropolis has been turned into a desert infested with strange and dangerous creatures.
