The center’s mission focuses on building partnerships with community members, agencies, business and organizations. Workshops on youth specific issues are conducted by various Durham agencies. The schedule also includes self-directed activities for youth. Community forums, guest presentations, teen dialogue nights and educational speakers address topics such as teen-parent relationships, teen drug and alcohol use, depression and suicide, and teen sexuality.
The Durham Teen Center provides middle and high school youth with high quality programming. The center encourages youth to express themselves, transcend personal boundaries, learn the value of service to their community, and develop individual assets that foster healthy and meaningful lives.
The Durham Teen Center is a safe and friendly environment that features:
• 3,400 square foot game room, computer room and kitchen
• Pool table, ping pong, air hockey, foosball, video games, board games and music instruments
• 50 inch and 42 inch HDTVs
• Walking distance from the Durham Area Transit Authority
