Kesha shows off bright green hair in dramatic makeover after admitting she's embracing a new 'raw and real' look

She declared last week that she's ditching the glitter and crazy outfits for a new 'raw and real' look.

But Kesha isn't quite ready to let go of the crazy hairstyles, debuting her new yellow-green locks on Instagram over the weekend.

After previously rocking rainbow highlights and trying an array of coloured wigs, the 28-year-old has now gone for a 'slimey' new do.

Kesha showed off her makeover in a series of Instagram snaps and a video, dubbing her new hair colour 'slimey'.

While she's previously turned to wigs to change up her look, this colour is likely to stick around for awhile, as it looks like a dye job.

The new look comes as the Tik Tok hitmaker speaks out on what has been a challenging couple of years.

In an interview with the latest issue of Vogue she opened up about her decision to check into rehab and the journey she has made to embrace and celebrate her natural beauty.  

After seeking treatment in rehab for an eating disorder at the beginning of last year, she said she realised that 'being healthy is the most important thing.'

Her on-stage persona consists of wild makeup and hairstyles that served as a sort of trademark for the artist.

However, she expressed after her rehab transformation, 'I wanted to be more confident in myself—embrace every inch of my body—not try to cover up with makeup.”  

'I really wanted to make a change—be more raw and real.'

The chart-topper realised the extent of unhealthiness brought on by her eating disorder and decided to seek help because she felt she was misleading her fans.

She told Vogue.com: 'I wanted to be genuine. But I was sad and [I wasn't eating]. That's not good for your body, metabolism, or brain. I talked to my therapist, and she said, "I think it's time we take a moment to address this."' 

The Blow hit-maker is still trying to improve her confidence, but is determined to do it without all the makeup and extra flare. 

She explained: 'Now I'm trying to embrace the skin I'm in. It's difficult sometimes. Every day I have to look in the mirror and make the choice to be kind to myself. This is who I am--I have to love that.'
