Money can't buy you love... but it can by you this! Sir Paul McCartney snaps up $15.5 million triplex on Museum Mile overlooking Central Park (10 minutes from his other NY pad)
- Sir Paul and his wife Nancy Shevell have bought the 1960s-style triplex next door to Neue Galerie in Manhattan
- The 4-bedroom property has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Central Park with a park-side terrace
- It also features mirror-walled marble bathrooms, a library, and a private elevator
- His other New York apartment is behind the Museum of Modern Art, 10 minutes away
- The couple also have properties in Arizona, Beverly Hills, East Hampton, Scotland, London and East Sussex
Sir Paul McCartney has bought a $15.5 million New York penthouse opposite the Met Museum.
The former Beatle and his wife Nancy Shevell will enjoy sprawling views of Central Park from their triplex on Fifth Avenue - also known as Museum Mile.
The 72-year-old singer also has a townhouse 10 minutes away behind MOMA - as well as mansions in Beverly Hills, Arizona, and East Hampton, and three in the UK.
Next door to the Neue Galerie, and two blocks from the Guggenheim, they certainly won't be scraping around for things to do in their new neighborhood.
That's if they tire of the inside.
Luxurious: Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell have snapped up this apartment overlooking New York's Central Park for $15.5 million
The open-plan property features gold marble bathrooms with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and chandeliers over the baths
Nice looking! Mirrors also hang in the marble dining room of the property which neighbors the Neue Galerie
Paul and Nancy, who married four years ago, will have plenty to do in their home neighboring the Met Museum and the Guggenheim
The private elevator opens to a white marble foyer with mirrored walls and marble staircase up to the second floor.
It connects to a 33-foot-long carpeted library with floor to ceiling windows, a marble bar and gold bathroom, leading to a park-side terrace.
The living room also features floor-to-ceiling windows that slide open onto the 40-foot terrace, which wraps around the building.
Upstairs, the McCartneys have three large guest bedrooms, two with private bathrooms and one with its own east-facing balcony.
With a view of the park, the master suite could be its own capsule apartment.
It consists of a large bedroom, private sitting room, walk-in closet, private terrace, and marble bathroom.
Prime location: The triplex is surrounded by three of the world's top galleries. Their other home is behind MOMA, another art landmark
Retro: The geometric shapes and gold lining of the floating staircase is reminiscent of 1960s interior design
Library: This carpeted room with views of the park is used as a library, and has access to the 40-foot-long terrace
Master suite: The couple can luxuriate in their open plan private sitting room and bedroom
Room for friends: The property has two en suite guest rooms and one with its own east-facing balcony
The view: The apartment offers spectacular views of Central Park on Museum Mile, a street touted as the art capital of the world
Even the front of the building is glamorous marble. The redbrick next door has unrivaled Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt collections
When the property was listed in February this year, the New York Times described it as a 'glamorous 1960s time capsule with a dash of Hollywood.'
Built in 1967, the triplex on 86th Street and Fifth Avenue was the masterpiece of famed property developer Manny Duell.
It is just across the park from the Dakota Building, where John Lennon lived and died, which is on 72nd Street. Noted neighbors include Rush Limbaugh.
McCartney, who is estimated to be worth around $650 million, also has properties in London, East Sussex, and Scotland.
