Surf's up! Zac Efron and friends break out paddle boards to ride the waves on a Hawaiian holiday

After wrapping up months of filming for upcoming comedy Dirty Grandpa, it was time for some relaxation for Zac Efron.

The 27-year-old Neighbors star set out for a spot of paddle-boarding on the Hawaiian island of Maui on Saturday, showing off his muscly physique in a clingy swim top.

The actor and his pals were so focused on the surf, they were completely unaware of a wedding party that passed right behind them as they walked down the beach.

To be fair, the bride did not seem to notice a movie star hanging out nearby either, perhaps because her full white skirts and high-heeled shoes were ill-advised on the sand.

Zac, meanwhile, looked like a seasoned beach bum with a long-sleeved, wetsuit-style black shirt and striped, blue board shorts.

A backwards baseball cap and sunglasses hid the actor's eyes, while his feet were barefoot in the wet sand.

The island holiday was no doubt a welcome break for Zac as he completed filming on his upcoming movie, Dirty Grandpa, this month.

The Dan Mazer directed flick, co-starring Robert De Niro, Aubrey Plaza and Julianne Hough will be released in February 2016.

Zac's other movie, We Are Your Friends, where he plays aspiring DJ Cole Carter is scheduled for a Christmas Day 2015 release.

Just how long Zac has been in acting was made crystal clear on Friday, when the heartthrob tweeted a link to a poem written by his younger brother Dylan many years earlier.

'When your dad goes through your little bro's old homework and finds a gem: Poem by Dylan, 6th grad #abrotherlything,' Zac wrote as a caption.

The poem itself was a masterpiece of early-adolescent rhyme, beginning with the words: 'My brother is a movie star, and is only sixteen. He doesn't have a job yet, still, he thinks he is the queen.'

Likely composed at some point around 2004 (when Zac was, in fact, 16 years old), the actor had only appeared in four movies and a handful of TV roles by that time.

His breakout performance in Disney's High School Musical came two years later, in 2006.

'He does have a good side, that shows up once in awhile,' Dylan allowed later in his poem.

'If there's any hatred going on, it is a brotherly thing. If we fight no one gets hurt, brothers have to fight, I think,' concluded the younger Efron.

'A brotherly thing': Dylan's youthful poem referred to Zac as a 'movie star' and a 'queen'
