'Motherhood made me more ambitious!' Elizabeth Banks reveals how having children encouraged her to direct Pitch Perfect 2 but may jeopardize number three
She is now part of one of the most exclusive clubs in Hollywood - the female directors - and is in the clique thanks to the very reason some people claim women have not made it to Tinsel Town's top.
Elizabeth Banks has candidly revealed how directing and her push to be a presence in the movie making world has been affected by the fact she is a mother.
The 41-year-old star told Net-a-Porter's magazine The Edit her two boys - Felix, four, and Magnus, two - changed her priorities for the better.#

Speaking to Mickey Rapkin - the man who wrote the book which Pitch Perfect is based - she said: 'Motherhood changed me in positive ways.
Cover girl: The star spoke with Mickey Rapkin - the man who wrote the book which Pitch Perfect is based - in the Edit magazine
'It made me more ambitious for my kids. I do everything for them now, because I want this success for my life with them.'
It is with this drive that she made the transition from actress to the producer of the original Pitch Perfect which made $115m at the box office, to the director the sequel.
With Pitch Perfect 2, which reunites stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and herself, expected to eclipse the earnings of the first, Elizabeth is very conscious of the fact she has beaten the odds.
According to the magazine in 2013, the major Hollywood studios released three films with female directors and in 2014, that number rose to five, so the star knows she is a rare breed and has been entrusted to carry the banner for would-be female directors.
'I don't want to pretend it's not what it is. You can't not take up the cause the minute you accept the job.
'I made a funny movie - about girls - and it's going to make money? It just doesn't happen.'
However, while having children made Elizabeth want to do her very best and ultimately led to her helming the second film - which has already made over $100m since last weekend - it may also be the reason she steps away.
Pushed her: The 41-year-old said, '[Motherhood] made me more ambitious for my kids. I do everything for them now, because I want this success for my life with them'
Family affair: Elizabeth directs Pitch Perfect 2 while her husband Max Handelman - see here with their children Felix, four, and Magnus, two, last year - produced the film
With talks about a third film already, the star said she may not direct it.
'Directing is a big decision. It's a year and a half of my life and it's taking my kids out of their daily routine.'
The movie business is, however, a family business for Elizabeth as she produced the two Pitch Perfects with husband Handelman.
Small club: The actress said the star knows she is a rare breed and has been entrusted to carry the banner for would-be female directors in a world where few hare given a chance by big studios. Elizabeth is seen here directing Hailee Steinfeld in pitch Perfect 2
The fact they were a husband and wife duo at first led to some issues with people taking them seriously.
'Both Max and I have had to fight misconceptions, ''She’s just a blonde actress who works with her husband.'' ''Who are they?'' ''She’s not even that successful of an actress!'' But none of this is a vanity project. I want to tell stories and have more control over my life.'
Pitch Perfect 2, which is running a contest with app MatchCut, is in theaters now in both in the US and worldwide.
