The tourist from Hong Kong, who is believed to be a model, began the bungee in a bikini
But by the end, she was safely released at the bottom after discarding the little clothing she had on
The woman, reportedly a model, originally said she would jump in her bikini, but reportedly took off her clothes and jumped before staff could stop her.
A photo gallery and video of the incident have since gone viral, leading authorities to pay a visit to the site to investigate, reports Coconuts Bangkok.
'I didn't think the video and photos would be posted and criticized online,' X Centre manager Bancha Chulakul told police.
The Chinese tourist has been fine 1,000 Baht in absence, as she has now left the country
The centre has been fined 1,000 baht (£19) The Chinese woman has also been fined the same amount, but is thought to have already left Thailand.
Thai authorities have been working with their Hong Kong counterparts to try and limit the use of the images and video on social media, as Chang Mai is a 'City of Culture,' reports The Manager.
It is not the first time Chinese tourists has caused controversy in Thailand.
The video and photographs were uploaded to a Thai social network and proved popular
Locals have complained in recent months about tourists defecating in the streets during Chinese New Year celebrations.
Images of a tourist - believed to be of Chinese origin - during her underwear on seats at Chiang Mai airport in February caused further outrage, followed a month later by photos of a topless woman changing her clothes in the toilets at Don Mueang international airport in Bangkok.
Local feeling against misbehaving tourists was so strong that the Thai tourist board handed out etiquette manuals outlining how the holidaymakers are expected to behave, ahead of Chinese New Year in February.
The manual, written in Mandarin, advised against using public property as lavatories and contained general instructions on how to responsibly tour the country.
Traditionally Chiang Mai and nearby Chiang Rai in the north-east are the biggest draw for Chinese visitors.
Thailand's 2007 Computer Crimes Act bans any material that causes 'damage to the country's security or causes public panic' or 'any obscene computer data which is accessible to the public'.
Thailand's government has recently warned women they face up to five years in prison for taking so-called 'underboob selfies' after the trend swept social media.
The practice of photographing the lower half of one's breasts and posting the images online has become an increasingly popular pastime in the south east Asian country.
But Thailand's military government today said it would be willing to prosecute anybody posting underboob selfies online, claiming the practice is 'inappropriate' and will lead to prosecutions under the country's strict computer crime laws.
The culture ministry said offenders faced up to five years in jail, but did not say how they would identify the culprits.
