The National Geographic Society was created in Washington, D.C.,in January 1888 for "the increase and diffusion of geographic knowledge." Today the Society's mission is to inspire people to care about the planet. It is one of the largest non-profit scientific and educational institutions in the world with interests in geography, archaeology and natural science, the promotion of environmental and historical conservation.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TRAVELLER INDIA
This magazine is the Indian edition of National Geographic Traveler (USA) the travel magazine of the National Geographic Society. The original was started in 1985 and currently has a readership of 7.6 million worldwide. 

National Geographic Traveller India is a magazine that focuses on Real Travel for Real People. It aims to be inclusive and would like to draw a large segment of the magazine reading public to it. We are about travel experiences, about family travel, about variety and unusual elements in travel, as well as new ways of covering older destinations, and to have eco-tourism insights.

Traveller's publishing goals are to find new things to say about travel, to showcase fresh travel opportunities, to be an advocate for travellers. Traveller's tag line is "Nobody knows this world better," and accordingly, a Traveller story attempts to capture a place's essence in a way that inspires readers to follow in the writer's footsteps—and equip them to do so with useful destination information.

National Geographic Traveller India eschews fashion and fluff in favour of fantastic photography, insightful articles and reader-friendly service. Our aim is to be inclusive and not exclusive. We are very much about family travel, about travel experiences and insights, about real, travel for everybody. Above all we are about immersed travel and authentic story-telling; we are also about seasoned expertise, unprecedented access and local connections.
National Geographic Traveller India tries to cover India better than and more interestingly than any other travel magazine, it also aims at making this information accessible so that more people will be inspired to travel and to go to newer destinations. It short it is meant to be inspirational.
