Have mercy! Bob Saget is confirmed to return to Full House reboot as Danny Tanner

It certainly is a Fuller House after all.

After fans were left disappointed that the Olsen twins were not returning to the sitcom that made them stars, there is some good news - the Bob is back!

John Stammos confirmed the return of the Tanner house patriarch played be cult icon Bob Sagat late Thursday night.

Bob will reprise his role as widowed head of the household, Danny Tanner, ensuring all of the core cast, besides Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, will united for the Netflix series which comes twenty years after the last episode was broadcast on ABC.

John - who plays the always cool Uncle Jesse and is producing Fuller House - wrote on Twitter: 'Last but not least-best piece of casting yet.

'The great @bobsaget will be joining our show on @netfilx - this completes the perfect reunon!'

The announcement that he will be back as the dad comes after a string of cast revelations.

On Wednesday, Jodie Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner, shared a snap with her co-star Andrea Barber - who is Kimmy Gibbler - taken on the Warner Bros filming lot in Los Angeles - with her Twitter confirming her return. 

It was confirmed on Thursday that Aunt Becky will be reunited with Uncle Jesse, news which will delight fans of the show - which is returning named as Fuller House.

Lori Loughlin told Good Morning America she is excited to be back with the original cast members.

She recently told People magazine that she loved being on the sitcom: 'Doing that show was one of the best jobs I've ever had.' 

Jodie - now 33 - was five-years-old when she started in the heart-warming family comedy.

She recently told US Weekly she is 'thrilled' the series is returning, and gave an insight into how her character has grown up. 

'Steph has been a world traveller', she told the publication, 'She is a little bit of a free spirit. She's kind of an aspiring musician, she's been traveling all over.' 

The star told the magazine that the reboot of the show has been discussed for years, and finally become a reality when they met with Netflix.

'It's definitely a dream come true,' Jodie told US, 'When we took this meeting with Netflix months and months ago, and then things slowed down, we didn't hear and said, ''Okay, we'll see what happens.'' Then it's like all of a sudden, it's going.' 

The original series was based around a widowed news reporter Danny Tanner who enlisted the help of his best friends to raise his three daughters after his wife was killed in a car crash.

The new series - which is set to debut in 2016 - will revolve around the eldest daughter of the Tanner clan, D.J., played by original cast member Candace Cameron-Bure, as she attempts to grapple with widowhood with the help of her friends.
