Is that a wig? Amanda Seyfried shows off new shoulder-length bob and bangs in a selfie

Her glossy locks ordinarily fall just above her elbows, but Amanda Seyfried was in the mood for a brand new look on Friday.

The 29-year-old introduced a dramatic chin-length hairdo on Instagram, however did not indicate whether the look was permanent or in fact a wig for an upcoming role.

Amanda instead promoted her new off-Broadway play in the caption of the photo, which read: 'Thanks @2stnyc and friends who brought us @kelsydurks. Come back soon, friend. #whoiskim.'

The black-and-white image captured Amanda as she posed beside her friend Kelsey Durkin, who hovered just behind her shoulder.

Amanda's hashtag 'Who is Kim' referenced a character from her play The Way We Get By.

The Mean Girls star is currently making her off-Broadway debut in the performance, which focuses on two friends who awaken one morning following a drunken one-night stand.

Make a statement in a vibrant dress like Amanda's

The CFDA Awards saw all the glamorous A-Listers come out in their finery. For an event to celebrate fashion designers of America, it came of little surprise that the ladies were all donning American designers.

Kate and Laura Mulleavy launched Rodarte back in 2005 and since it has gone from strength to strength. Amanda Seyfriend showed off one of the sisters' designs from their autumn 2015 collection at the event last night and it's easy to see why Rodarte has become so popular so quickly. Intricate feminine designs combined with a unique albeit slightly wacky style brings together dresses as fun and pretty as Amanda's and Fashion Finder is a big fan of her ensemble.

This piece hasn't yet landed in stores, but click right to see what Rodarte do have to offer right now at ShopBop.

Being such a quirky brand there's little like it on the high street, but see below for some heavily embellished alternatives.

Amanda has earned some positive reviews for her portrayal of Beth, a role that required her to face her stage fright head-on.

Speaking of confiding in her father about her anxiety, Amanda told Broadway.com: 'I said, 'I'm so scared that I’m going to sabotage my career and this opportunity to be on stage, and I’m gonna ruin it for Tommy and Leigh and everyone and I'm gonna embarrass everybody."

'And he said, "Everything you’ve ever been afraid of has never come true." And he's right. Every night before I go out, I have less and less anxiety.'

The actress also discussed her relationship with actor Justin Long, who she has been dating since November 2013.

When asked about flirting on social media, the actress said: 'Humor is the most attractive thing.'

Amanda's limited engagement run of The Way We Get By will end on June 19, but Amanda's booming film career will continue to soar.

The actress is scheduled to appear in a number of films in the future, including Ted 2, which will hit theatres on June 26.

The first Ted film became a surprise hit in 2012, earning just under $550m worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo
