American Pharoah entered the pantheon of U.S. thoroughbred racing's all-time greats by winning the Belmont Stakes on Saturday to become the first horse to capture the coveted Triple Crown in nearly four decades. In winning his seventh straight race, American Pharoah becomes the first horse to sweep the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes and the first since Affirmed in 1978.

Roger and Pat Wisialowski, of Shorewood, Wisconsin, had no idea their two-bedroom house was designed by the American architect until a Northwestern University professor started doing research. The American System-Built House was built in 1917 as part of Wright's effort to develop well-designed houses for all income levels.

Tonya Carpenter (left) was named today as the fan at Boston's Fenway Park who was left streaming with blood and rushed from the stadium (right) after the freak accident sent fragments of wood flying through the air. Carpenter is still in hospital today, where she is in a 'serious condition'. Last night police said the wounds were life-threatening - but she is now expected to survive.

The photo was taken by Ben Govender, 38, who was travelling in the car behind Katherine Chappell, an editor on hit TV show Game of Thrones, at Gauteng Safari Park, South Africa. He described the 'terrifying' scene as he watched the animal take its first bite out of the passenger on the back seat before retreating from the vehicle, blood dripping from its mouth and paw. Miss Chappell was killed while taking pictures in the safari park north of Johannesburg on Monday while taking a break from a two-week volunteering project on a nature preserve.

Dain Metcalfe, an officer for the Kauai Police Department in Hawaii, pulled off the adorable proposal on April 9 at an Oregon elementary school where his now fiancee, Auika Muragin, works (left the moment Metcalfe proposed to Muragin). In the touching moment caught on video, Muragin is told she is playing a game where she has to keep back facing her students and closest coworkers while also keeping her eyes closed as they prepare the classroom. Anti-wrinkle jab company Galderma recruited seven sets of identical twins aged from 38 to 63 to take part in a unique experiment. In each case, one sibling underwent cosmetic procedures involving filler Restylan to reduce wrinkles and give firmness. The other twin had no treatment. Trooper, named by rescuers from the Delaware County SPCA, had surgery on Thursday after he was discovered wandering the streets by police in Derby, Pennsylvania around 7am (Trooper pictured left when he was rescued; and right, after being taken into the care of the SPCA). The 46-lb dog, who is between eight and ten months old, has 'recovered beautifully' and 'looks great' following the surgery where a doctor removed the shackle and repaired his neck, according to the SPCA.

Harrison Ford looks like he's well on the way to a full recovery following his plane crash in March. Just three months after sustaining serious injuries including a broken pelvis and broken ankle, the 72-year-old is fully mobile and walking without any aids. 20-year-old Brazilian Celso Santebanes (left and right with Ken dolls) turned himself into a human version of Barbie's boyfriend, Ken. He began his £30,000 transformation after winning a modelling contest aged 16, and launched his own line of Celso Dolls in Los Angeles shortly before falling ill. He discovered he had cancer four years ago after going to hospital to treat infections caused by hydrogel fillers in his legs.

This is the heartwarming moment a woman saw her pet dog walking for the first time after surgery and rehabilitation. The dog named Sammi, who appears to be a Cocker Spaniel, had previously lost the ability to use its legs. In the video, filmed in America, the woman is shocked to see him walking.

Channan Petrides, 22 (left and inset), was put on the donor register in September 2014, but she removed herself just two months later after learning of the hidden complications of surgery. Doctors told he there was a good chance the operation might kill her, and that if she lived her body might reject the organs within six months. Even if she pulled through, she would have to take strong antibiotics which would limit what she could do. Rather than risk dying to extend her life, Miss Petrides decided to make the most of the time she had left by completing her bucket list (right).

Patrick Lanier (inset) caught a 5ft nurse shark on the Intracoastal Waterway on Thursday and hoped to score $100 when he set up shop at a Publix in Fort Lauderdale (pictured). Lanier threw water on the shark 'every so often' as he tried to make a sale and said he released it back into the waterway when there were no buyers after 15-20 minutes on the sidewalk.

A man wowed a crowd of friends by pulling out an imaginary saxophone and performing a little tune with his vocal chords while pretending to play along with his fingers. In the clip, the man mimics the iconic Pink Panther theme tune to the amazement of the crowd.
