Ant and Dec's £8.4million pay cheque: ITV's golden pair take home £23,000 A DAY

Ant and Dec have barely spent a weekend off British TV screens in recent years, and it appears their hard work has paid off.

The presenting pair made £8.4million last year - a massive £23,000-a-day - accounts filed by their companies reveal.

The 39-year-olds have a lucrative 'golden handcuffs deal' with ITV, exclusively presenting for the broadcaster until 2016, according to reports.

Their recent contract with ITV, signed in November 2013, extended their relationship with the channel to 18 years.

According to the most recent accounts filed by their firms Teecourt, Deecourt and Hurley Promotions, the pair made £8.4million between them, The Mirror reports.

'It's little surprise they are raking it in given they are fronting three of the biggest and most popular shows on TV, with huge ratings to boot,' a TV source told the newspaper.

'For the big cheeses at the top of ITV, they are worth every penny.'

Anthony 'Ant' McPartlin and Declan 'Dec' Donnelly are currently hosting three of ITV's most popular shows; Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain's Got Talent and I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!

The pair have come a long way since their formative years as PJ and Duncan in Newcastle based teen drama Byker Grove.

A brief but memorable recording career followed before they branched into children's television presenting with The Ant & Dec Show and Saturday morning staples SM:TV Live and CD:UK.

The pair picked up two gongs at this year's BAFTA Awards - Entertainment Programme and Entertainment Performers.

Today Declan is worth around £60 million, and lives in a gadget-packed house in Chiswick, West London.

He recently spent £50,000 on an engagement ring for his fiance, Ali Astall, whom he is set to marry this summer in a star-studded ceremony in Newcastle.

Declan may be regarded as one of the less flashy stars in his profession, but his car collection has included an Aston Martin, a Maserati and a soft-top BMW 6 Series.
