The Grammy award winning singer wrote: 'Sorry to not be singing in London tonight. I love my fans in the UK and appreciate all the well wishes to get over this flu quickly.'

Lady Gaga told her 47million followers: 'Hey everybody! Don't worry about Tony, he's ok! That's just showbiz sometimes. We'll catch u next time, we got you!'

And earlier in the evening, the Royal Albert Hall tweeted: 'We're very sorry to say that tonight's concert has been cancelled due to Tony Bennett being taken ill. Apologies to disappointed fans.

'We will contact all ticket-holders as soon as we have any more information. We would also like to wish Tony a speedy recovery.'

‘Unfortunately, Tony Bennett has come down with a flu virus which has prevented him from performing the second of two sold-out shows in London.

‘Ticket holders are instructed to retain their tickets to this event pending more information.

'Fans who have purchased tickets online will be notified via the ticket outlets as soon as additional information is available.’

The pair met Prince Harry at the Royal Albert Hall last night ahead of a concert raising funds for WellChild, a national charity for seriously ill children and their families which the Prince has been a patron of since 2007.

Discussing how he and Lady Gaga had collaborated on their new jazz album, Bennett said: 'I heard her personally and said we have to get together.'

Prince Harry told the 88-year-old: 'I can't believe you have the energy, I don't know how you do it.'

Gaga, 29, replied: 'He runs circles around me. Wait until we get on stage.'

The duo will be trotting the globe performing until August 1.
