Kurt Russell grew a mane as unruly as the Wild West for his role in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.

Goldie Hawn's main squeeze was sporting a rough chopped new 'do as he took care of personal business in Santa Monica, California on Tuesday with the couple's 28-year-old son Wyatt.

Kurt's hair was naturally grey and buzzed around the sides with a bushier flat top, and while most of the long handlebar moustache was gone there remained some facial fuzz below his nose.

The haircut appeared to be quite new too as the pair were seen leaving The Cut Salon.

The 64-year-old actor certainly had a lightness in his stride too while walking down a tree-lined sidewalk with Wyatt.

Kurt wore jeans and a T-shirt boasting the title of his latest endeavor, The Hateful Eight, in which he plays a bounty hunter in post-Civil War Wyoming.

Now that filming on location in Colorado appears to have wrapped, Kurt could shed the wild and woolly mane.

Like father, like son: Wyatt, 28, who is Kurt's son with longtime love Goldie Hawn, sported long hair and full beard to rival his dad's former look

Wyatt, though, looked like the chip off the old block as his hair was long and his beard full.

Following in the style of his famous dad, Wyatt wore jeans and a plain white T-shirt along with a reverse cap and casual shoes.

Father and son wore their watches on their left wrists and flashed lookalike grins at passers-by who recognised them.

Meanwhile, Goldie revealed the secret to her lasting, 32-year relationship with Kurt in an interview with Porter magazine.

The 69-year-old actress declared that marriage is not the magic ingredient to an enduring love, but intention is.

'A lasting relationship isn't about marriage. It’s about compatibility and communication,' Goldie maintained.

'And you both need to want it to work. If one person does not want it to work, it isn’t going to work. Intention is the key.

'It’s also about not losing yourself in each other. Being together, two pillars holding up the house and the roof, and being different, not having to agree on everything, learning how to deal with not agreeing. Everything’s a choice.'
