It was a dream come true for the young actress.

But after a short run Vanessa Hudgens' time on Broadway is swiftly coming to a close after her Gigi revival suffered poor reviews and a disappointing performance at the box office.

The 26-year-old made her Broadway debut in the title role but now the show will take its final bow on June 21 after about 100 performances.

Gigi, set in Paris at the turn of the last century, comes from Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe. It centers on a teenage girl being groomed to serve as a mistress until she falls in love.

The show only earned one Tony nomination, for Victoria Clark. Last week, the Neil Simon Theatre, where the show plays, was barely half-full and the show earned only 30 percent of its $1.3 million potential.

The same day as the announcement, Hudgens was spotted walking in New York as she left her legs bare in a split-to-the- thigh maxi dress.

With a white circular design, the black dress covered very little of the High School Musical star's shoulders and back.

She tied her hair back and wore black circular shades as she lugged two bags - one with black leather fringe detailing. She also wore a necklace with a crystal jewel at the end.

In some of the shots the star wore black leather heels while in others she wore a more relaxed pair of sandals.

It was announced yesterday that Hudgens would be ending her role as the young French girl who falls for a wealthy playboy in Gigi.

On Sunday, Hudgens and the cast performed The Night They Invented Champagne at the Tony Awards. The show was only nominated for one Tony - a featured actress nod to Hudgens's co-star Victoria Clark.

The Spring Breakers actress began her role as the titular character on April 8 and her last show will be June 21.

During her residency in New York, the California-native has been seen wearing some bold outfits.

She's been spotted in various outfits ranging from: denim Daisy Dukes to knee-high Gladiator-style sandals to a leopard print mini-dress.

Summer nights: Also in the works for the actress is Grease: Live, a TV special in which she'll star alongside Julianne Hough, Nick Jonas and Martin Short

The actress was also seen attempting to go incognito while sporting a short bob wig.

Later this year, Hudgens will star in a horror comedy called Kitchen Sink.
