Jessica Simpson helps pregnant sister Ashlee celebrate her impending arrival by throwing 'very chill' baby shower at her house

Heavily pregnant Ashlee Simpson's second child - first with husband Evan Ross - is due in a matter of weeks.

And so this past Sunday the 30-year-old's older sister Jessica Simpson celebrated the impending new arrival by throwing her a shower at the 34-year-old's home.

She was joined by 65 guests at the party, which was described as 'very chill,' according to one guest, and as reported by People.

Ahead of the event, Diana Ross - Ashlee's mother-in-law - took to Twitter to share her excitement for the event, as well as a picture of a pretty, pink gift basket.

'Can't wait to see you at the baby shower,' the legendary songstress wrote, to which the mom-to-be quickly responded: 'yay!! I'm so excited your on Twitter and I can't wait to see you at the baby shower. everyone follow my Mama D.'

A guest also praised the mom-to-be's style for the get-together, saying she 'looked gorgeous' in a 'super flowy, Bohemian-style outfit.'

Attendees noted that the location was ideal for the laid-back star, commenting: 'It was beautiful weather and her house was the perfect setting … so gorgeous.'

Another added: 'It was very chill and almost like just a get-together than a traditional shower. It wasn't focused on games [and was] more like a big party.'

Ashlee's mother, Tina, helped Jessica to put the party together, and was on-hand to celebrate with her daughter.

And guests said that the Pieces of Me singer was happy to share the spotlight with her newly-engaged mom, as attendees fawned over the 55-year-old's ring.

She had taken to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the engagement to landscaper Jon Goldstein, captioning the photo: 'He put a ring on it #intheclouds #gardener4life #loveofmylife'

Tina and Joe 'Papa Joe' Simpson split and filed papers in October 2012 to end their 34-year marriage, with their divorce finalized in April 2013.

Ashlee - who tied the knot with husband Evan in August - announced she was expecting her first child with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay actor in December.

The singer already shares six-year-old son Bronx Mowgli with ex Pete Wentz, with whom she split in 2011.

In April she spoke with People about expecting her daughter, sharing: 'It feels new to me,' and adding: 'I’m like, ‘Here we go! We gotta learn how to swaddle again!'
