But when the officer opened the door he smelled marijuana. Upon searching the vehicle, he found five spliffs.

The rapper was then sent to Fayette County Jail to be processed on a drug misdemeanor as well as the traffic violation.

According to the arresting officer, the Hood Billionaire was 'very cooperative' and gave no trouble at all.

Ross, who's real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was unlikely to cause hassle for law enforcement officers, seeing as he used to be one.

From December 1995 to June 1995 he worked as a correctional officer in Florida, a fact he tried to deny when it first emerged later in his career.

His attempts to hide his former ties to the law are unsurprising, considering he named his stage persona after convicted California drug trafficker 'Freeway' Rick Ross, who has tried to sue the rapper in the past.

This latest arrest isn't the first drugs charge for the Maybach Music Group founder either; he was busted for possession of weed in Miami in 2008, and in Louisiana in 2011; and arrested again in North Carolina in 2014 for failing to appear in court over the previous charge.

In 2011 it was once again the scent that gave him away, when police reportedly smelled pot from his room at the Shreveport Hilton - they eventually found one gram of the drug.

The Hustlin star was born in Mississippi and raised in Florida, but lives in Fayette.

Last year he spent $5.8million on a 109-room mansion that belonged to boxer Evander Holyfield until it was foreclosed.
