Jane Thorpe, 38 (main picture), was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer nearly four years ago and was later told she had just a matter of years to live. But, despite the toll that treatment had on her body, Ms Thorpe decided to set herself a challenge - building herself an entire new home. So the IT worker bought a bungalow in a village near Rotherham before bulldozing it to the ground (bottom left) and rebuilding it again - something she had dreamed of doing since she was a child. After a struggle to get planning permission, she started rebuilding the walls, with the help of family and friends, in April last year. She moved into the house in December, while undergoing chemotherapy (inset right) and has since been working on minor adjustments. But Ms Thorpe says she loves to sit and watch the birds in her new garden with her Labrador Tia by her side and is 'incredibly proud' of what she has achieved.

Surgeons removed a pen top from a manís lung who swallowed the object while at primary school 20 years ago.
Shocked doctors thought Lei Hou, 32, was suffering from a tumour but after surgery   found a plastic top that has lodged in his bronchial passageway.
The incident happened in Yuhang District, Hangzhou City, capital of Zhejiang Province in  East China.
Lei had complained of constant coughing and after a x-ray doctors decided to operate.
 Afterwards Lei remembered when he was in primary school he had accidentally swallowed a plastic pen cap while doing homework.
Foolishly, he admitted he did not get it checked out because, besides having occasional difficulty breathing, it did not bother him.
However, doctors informed him that the lung had now shrunk and would never work again as the pen cap had prevented air from entering the lung.
They said this could have been prevented if he had gone to regular check-ups in the past.

Peter Bowker, 28, from Connah's Quay in North Wales, lost his right leg below knee after the heavily-armoured patrol vehicle he was travelling in struck an IED in Afghanistan in 2008.

Moving along the horizontal pole is easy for the tiny creatures but one sloth found it hard to lift its tiny body up the pole while getting some exercise at the Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica. Hanging upside down at one point (top left), it cries out for help and onlookers offer a little guidance for the inquisitive animal.
