Raven-Symoné is officially named The View's newest co-host

Raven-Symoné has officially been named the new co-host of The View, less than four months after Rosie O'Donnell's sudden departure.

The 29-year-old was announced as the latest addition to the line-up during Wednesday's episode of the daytime talk show.

The news doesn't come as much of a surprise, however, as DailyMail.com first revealed in May that ABC had zeroed in on Raven-Symoné as a new co-host.

The former child star had also appeared on the show as a guest host 37 times.

Raven-Symoné said: 'The Disney Company has made another one of my dreams come true! Being a part of The View family will be a wonderful growing experience for me.

'The cast and crew are warm and welcoming and has made the transition into daytime talk easier. I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host.'

The star has been dating model AzMarie Livingston since 2011, and told Oprah Winfrey in October that she doesn't 'want to be labelled gay'.

'I want to be labelled a human who loves humans. I'm tired of being labelled. I'm an American. I'm not an African American,' Raven-Symoné explained.

A source told Dailymail.com that a second co-host for The View is still being decided on, but that it's between Michelle Collins, Stacy London and Molly Sims.

Dailymail.com revealed last month that ABC bosses were hoping to land Cristela Alonzo as the second co-host, but she declared that she was 'taking a hiatus from the network' after they cancelled her sitcom Cristela.

Rosie O'Donnell, who famously caused controversy as a co-host on the show's tenth season, returned for season 18 in September but announced in February that she was leaving for personal reasons.

Rosie had been brought back after the departure of Jenny McCarthy, Sherri Shepherd and moderator Barbara Walters, with former co-host Whoopi then returning to the show as moderator.
