She's normally always camera-ready, flashing a big smile when she's caught out and about by the paparazzi.

But perhaps thoughts of planning her upcoming wedding are to blame for Sofia Vergara's more reflective mood as she was spotted shopping in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.

The Modern Family star, 42, looked deep in thought as she stepped out in ripped jeans, black jacket and blouse and a pair of animal-print wedges.

We're used to seeing Sofia Vergara in super tight form-fitting dresses in her role as Gloria on Modern Family, but when she's off duty the Colombian actress is much more laid back than her character.

Sofia's shopping trip on Rodeo Drive comes as the actress revealed she is set to wed actor fiance Joe Manganiello 'soon'.

Speaking to E! News at the Screen Actors Guild Foundation's Los Angeles Golf Classic event this week, she refused to give away the location.

She said: 'It's going to happen soon.

'(The wedding will take place) very far away in a very secret place where nobody is going to find us.'

She then joked: 'It's on a plane!'

Earlier this week, the bride and groom-to-be posed on the red carpet together at the Los Angeles premiere of Jurassic Park. 

The nuptials will be the second marriage to Colombian star Sofia, who was previously wed to teenage sweetheart Joe Gonzales in the early '90s.

They split in 1993 after two years of marriage and had a son Manolo together, now 22.

Sofia and Joe started dating in July last year after the actress ended her stormy on/off romance with ex-fiance Nick Loeb.

Magic Mike heart-throb Joe, 38, proposed to Sofia on Christmas Day on holiday in Hawaii.
