His father recently posted a heart-warming message for his boy's birthday, last week.

But, clearly still celebrating, EJ Johnson - son of basketball legend Magic - was spotted treating himself to another stylish shopping spree in LA on Thursday.

The 23 year-old stepped out in Beverly Hills, where he certainly cut a fashion-forward figure.

Wearing an all-black ensemble despite the sweltering LA heat, the media personality added some dramatic detail to the look with a leather jacket and a pair of peep-toe boots.

Hiding behind a pair of designer sunglasses, he accessorised with a statement Birkin bag in vivid canary yellow, with an equally bold price tag - the item ranges from £6,700 to £100,000 ($10,500 to $150,000).

And, obviously taking his shopping spree seriously, he was spotted eyeing up the cookies at Starbuck's, but only picked up a frappuccino, which he sipped to maintain energy levels.

The latest shots come just days after his famous father, 55, posted a cute picture on his Instagram page on Thursday to mark the 23rd birthday.

The picture showed Magic holding his new born son next to a recent picture of him with EJ on a red carpet.

He added the caption: 'Happy Birthday to my son @ejjohnson_ ! It's the coolest thing in the world being your dad!'

EJ is Magic's son with wife Cookie, whom he married in 1991.

The couple also have a daughter Elisa, whom they adopted in 1995. Magic has another son Andre, 33, from a previous relationship.

The family celebrated EJ's birthday on June 4 with a special dinner at Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills.

As they left, they stopped to pose for photographers waiting outside with the proud dad insisting the paparazzi had to sing 'happy birthday' to his son - and they happily obliged. It was all caught on tape by TMZ.

EJ, who is openly gay, has been making a name for himself as one of the stars of E!'s reality series Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills.

He's also made headlines with his incredible weight loss, shedding more than 100 pounds from his 6'8" frame since he had gastric sleeve surgery last September.

In addition to the medical procedure, he credits a routine of four heated pilates sessions a week and cutting out alcohol, fried foods and sugar from his diet with helping him achieve his weight loss goal.
