Youthful Juliette Binoche, 51, cuts a classy figure in jewelled choker dress as she attends film festival in France

She is known for being a sophisticated star of stage and screen.

And, to prove it, actress Juliette Binoche looked sensational when she attended an industry function in her homeland of France on Thursday.

The acclaimed actress, 51, was a special guest at the opening of the 29th Romantic Film Festival in Cabourg, Normandy, where she wowed cinema fans with her style.

The performer kept it classy for the occasion in a floor-length silk dress, which featured a dazzling jewelled chocker strap.

Wearing her dark brown hair up in a classy bun, she looked radiant in her choice of attire and accessorised gently with just some minimalist earrings and make-up.

Capping the image with a pair of peep-toe shoes, she looked typically demure.

Joined by peers at the event, she cosied-up to fellow French screen star Melanie Thierry, who also wore a similar style, for a photo opportunity.

Much like Cannes, the annual Romantic Film Festival gathering celebrates all things love on the cinematic screen. And, of course, Juliette has enjoyed her fair share of such roles.

Binoche's hits include the English Patient, for which she won an Oscar, plus The Unbearable Lightness of Being and, of course, Chocolat.

Yet she also turned down the leading roles in Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible and an Indiana Jones movie, saying that she refused to let Hollywood take over her life.

However, more recently appeared opposite Kristen Stewart in The Clouds Of Sils Maria.

In it, Juliette plays an aging actress Maria Enders who becomes fascinated by her personal assistant, Stewart, and a younger star, played by Chloe Grace Moretz.

The movie follows Maria's reaction when Moretz's character signs on to play the very same role which made the older actress famous.
