Well, at least that worked out! Patrick Dempsey and estranged wife Jillian Fink sell their home for more than they asked for just over a month since listing it mid-divorce

Seldom is it said that divorce is a great money maker.

While most people end up taking a direct hit in the hip pocket, Patrick Dempsey and his soon-to-be ex-wife Jillian Fink are now $500,000 richer for it.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Grey's Anatomy star and his estranged partner just off loaded their stunning Malibu home for an even more stunning $15 million.

And while no doubt it has been a tough time of late - their marriage breaking up, Patrick's Grey's Grey's Anatomy character getting killed off and having to put this home on the market - there is a silver lining.

The architectural masterpiece sold in just over one month since they listed for the cheaper, but still hardly affordable, $14.5 million which was already a great price as the then-happily married pair paired only $7 million for the property in 2009.

Real estate agent Ladd Jackson of Hilton & Hyland, who represented the purchaser, told the Wall Street Journal, the buyer - who he would not identify - knew they wanted the place as their family home immediately.

His clients saw the property within days of it going on the market and made an offer 'instantly', however, some other buyers had the same idea pushing the price up.

Also helping to drive up the price and attracting his client in the first place, was the fact the home was designer by architectural icon Frank Gehry, and featured beautiful landscaped gardens.

Jackson said: 'It's a very Zen and very beautiful property,' he said. 'It's very private and very peaceful.'

While they paid more than they wanted to, the new owners are truly getting a treasure.

The 5,500-square-foot- home is nestled in the Malibu mountains on 3.3 acres of land and was designed by Gehry as both a studio and residence for abstract painter Ron Davis in 1972.
