Anything Jean-Claude Van Damme can do... Channing Tatum can't do better! 22 Jump Street star spoofs Belgian actor in video

Jean-Claude Van Damme had the world in awe when he performed the splits between two moving lorries in a new Volvo advert but sadly Channing Tatum didn't get quite the same effect when he tried to do similar.

In character as Jenko on the set of cop comedy sequel 22 Jump Street, Tatum positions himself on two food trolleys, one foot on each, with his head bowed and arms folded in quiet concentration.

As two assistants push the wheeled carts away from each other, the actors's legs start to move further apart, and sadly they don't quite make it to JCVD's horizontal angle.

But before he ends up in a pile on the floor, Jenko makes does do a great imitation of Jean-Claude's pensive words in the viral advert.

‘I’ve had my ups and downs,’ says the young officer in voice over. ‘Being an undercover cop. That’s what made me what I am today.'

‘Surviving high school is no easy task. Neither being a college freshman at my age. But because of this, my body is now engineered to defy the law of physics and a mindset to master the most epic of split,’ Jenko finishes.

The display of arrogant showmanship is certainly in character for the jock-turned-cop who in 21 Jump Street teamed up with Jonah Hill's Schmidt, to go undercover in an American high school and take down a drug ring.

Now the two are back but this time they're headed to college to crack a crime ring within a fraternity.

And while the first film focused on Schmidt's acceptance in the contemporary metrosexual world of high school, this time it's Jenko's turn to feel at one with the football team.

His partner's tasked with infiltrating the liberal arts scene, forcing the two to face up to their differences and decide if their friendship can survive the mission.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller return as directors, while the cast welcomes Greek star Amber Stevens and Kurt Russell's son Wyatt, who reportedly turned down a role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay to star in the film.

I found this to be a hilarious spoof of the original. Looking forward to 22 Jump Street.

@ayrshireman - He's certainly a likable fellow and obviously has a good sense of humour but he simply needs time to develop his acting ability. I mean, look how long it took Bill Paxton before he became a good actor.

I might be a bit bias because I think Channing is an awful awful actor and isn't funny in the slightest, and why would you spoof that advert, I thought it was cool. Let's be honest Channing wouldn't slate the advert to Van Damme's face, Van Damme is amazing at stunts, nothing to spoof. Stick to stripping Channing, leave the cool stuff to Van Damme.

The JCVD one is to show the stability and precision of Volvo's Dynamic Steering, why are the vehicles reversing? Ok, that's to say that reversing is that difficult the designed driving aids it, but why are the wheels not turning?
