Jordin Sparks is singing a happy tune these days.

And when she strolled down the red carpet at the 2013 Music Biz Awards on Thursday her amazingly svelte frame provided even more cause for applause.

Jordin, who recently shed 50 lbs, took time out to show off both her hard-won figure and her handsome man at the star-studded event presented by NARM and Musicbiz.org.

She wore a tight-fitting floral mini-skirt and flattering black top and matching jacket.

Adding to the chic ensemble were a pair of black peep-toe shoes, and accessories included a heavy golden necklace and bracelet.

Jordin wore her long dark hair pulled back in a sleek ponytail that was both practical and stylish.

The American Idol winner and her singer boyfriend Jason Derulo, both 23, couldn't hide their love at the star-studded event, which took place at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

Jordin took advantage of the moment to cuddle with her man, and even gave his cheek a warm kiss at one point.

While Jordin went the sexy chic route with her attire, Jason kept his along casual lines, wearing black trousers, white T-shirt, grey cardigan and spirited red trainers.

In 2007 when Jordin walked away as winner of the sixth season American Idol, she was a great deal heavier.

Jordin decided to do something about it three years later while she was making her Broadway debut in the musical In The Heights.

'I got really sick in the fall of 2010 right after Broadway,' Jordin said during an appearance on the Today show.

'And I was just like, I am not going to take my health for granted anymore. This changes right here, right now.

'I was really evaluating what I was eating, when,' she added. 'And why I was eating it. I love food and so I was just eating because it tasted good. I kind of re-evaluated that. Now I definitely listen to my body first.'

At Thursday's gala, Jordin's newfound confidence was written all over her outfit.

The Awards dinner presented by NARM and Musicbiz.org, is one of the music industry's must-attend events and drew out many other big names.

Iggy Azalea complimented her sleek black trousers with a blue and black patterned top and strappy white heels.
