Cameron Diaz sparkles as she joins Annie cast mates to perform Tomorrow in the bustling streets of Harlem

Cameron Diaz is starring as the nasty Miss Hannigan in the film remake of Annie.

But one would never guess from pictures released on Monday which capture the star's glittering personality.

Hiding her mean side, the 41-year-old actress delighted onlookers as she joined her co-stars Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis, and Rose Bryne to perform the iconic song Tomorrow in the streets of Harlem, New York.

Unlike the original film, in which Annie is the only character to perform Tomorrow, the remake turned the hit into a collaborative effort.

In front of a marching band and in a sea of red balloons, the cast held hands and belted out the lyrics to the motivational theme.

It was especially surprising to see Cameron sing and groove to the tune in which her character Miss Hannigan inspired by her ruthless acts.

Yet, she didn't appear to be such a villainous character in this scene.

The Bad Teacher star's warm smile, long blonde curls, and sparkling energy created for a more positive demeanor.

But perhaps her sassy ensemble, minus her angelic white scarf, posed as a clue for Miss Hannigan's tough attitude.

The blonde beauty donned a funky fur coat, flirtatious hoop earrings, fingerless leather gloves, a purple-printed leopard dress, and sheer black tights.

And on her feet, Cameron sported a pair of pointed-toe, laced black leather boots.

The remake, directed by Will Gluck and based on a screenplay by Emma Thompson, is being produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith.

Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx is playing the adaptation's equivalent to the loveable Daddy Warbucks, who takes Annie away from the orphanage.

Foxx plays millionaire Benjamin Stacks, with Rose Byrne as his assistant, while 10-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis stars in the title role as Annie.

The original musical is based on the Harold Gray comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, which made its debut in 1924. The Broadway musical opened in 1977 and won seven Tonys.

The feature film based on the musical opened in theatres in 1982 and starred Aileen Quinn as Annie, Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks and also featured Tim Curry and Bernadette Peters.
