There's no taming these designers! After wacky shows in London and Milan male models hit the runway in wicker bonnets, animal print gloves and golden finger waves at Paris Men's Fashion Week

Fashion faux-pas'? Or just fashion forward haute couture? Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck and fellow designers Julius and Alibellus sent some startling looks down the Paris Fashion Week catwalk yesterday.

First the Belgian designer styled models with flapper-style gold lamé finger waved hair and kitted others out in wicker bonnets and neck scarves, much like senior citizens. Accessories such as python opera-length gloves, metallic mismatched slippers and cartoon socks almost distracted from bizarre tailoring and ill-defined printed silk pyjama suits.

Van Beirendonck came out at the end of the show parading his unmistakeable wild beard as he took his bow.

Elsewhere slender male models clad in eccentric monochrome suits were styled with chalky white foreheads and slicked back hair. Looking a bit bewildered, they took to the runway for Julius' SS14 offering, and while the show's styling was impractical and outlandish, the fashion house's signature Eastern zen influence was still evident.

The fashion pack must be hoping for some wearable looks tomorrow when industry big hitters John Galliano, Givenchy and Maison Martin Margiela get their chance to showcase their SS14 creations.
