And for their next production... a romance! California couple announce engagement in series of movie posters mimicking their favorite films and TV shows

Bored of standard issue engagement photos, one California couple decided they would inform their friends and family of their upcoming nuptials Hollywood-style, by mimicking their favorite movie posters.

Photographer Joshua Watson and finance Rachel Van Der Merwe, from La Mirada, just 30 minutes from Tinseltown, came up with the concepts, design, and production of the posters, which include parodies of An Education, Inception and Little Miss Sunshine.

The loved-up couple then enlisted the help of fellow snapper Jordan Nakamura to shoot the actual photographs and retouch them afterwards.

Josh and Rachel wanted to make the viewer do a 'double take' with the posters, which each reveal information about a certain part of the couple's journey from how they met to where the wedding reception will be held.

'It was fun shooting with these two playing roles in some of their favorite films and television shows,' Nakamura said on his website, adding that some of the end results were so close to the original they even tricked Google.

Just thought I'd have a laugh and post here. I'm the brother of the bride and my sister is an extremely humble person. The reason they chose to do these as their engagement photos is because my sister is in the film industry and my brother-in-law is a photo journalist. They were expressing their passions in life through these photos. It's telling of who they are and what they like, not a statement of arrogance. For those thinking they are trying as hard as they can be to be "edgy", they had a very traditional wedding which was fantastic and beautiful. They exhibited their love for each other through their similar interests and passions - what's so wrong with that?

As an American woman, living in London I have to say that I love these. I think that this shows how Americans are not only the most creative people but also the most romantic. - janeyBB, London-Boston, United Kingdom, 19/7/2013 10:05 Seeing as you're "an American woman, living in London" and you write this line in practically EVERY one of your comments on DM - you are proving that Americans are definitely not creative. Do make my day: in your next comment , I so wish you would write is "As an American woman, back where I belong in America....." blah blah blah

Ah JaneyBB you're almost making me smile now... Every story, every comment as irritating and baiting as the last one...ur a very good troll! I think I might ask the DM readership to start a donate a penny campaign to get you your ticket back to America but you'd probably want it in cents... They're better, right?! At least you're consistent... UK bad, America good... Simple & v wrong!
