The response to news that the leader of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP, Rachel Dolezalhas misrepresented herself as a black woman has been polarizing

'Iggy Azalea ran so Rachel Dolezal could fly,' wrote on Twitter user in reference to the Australian rapper who has become the focus of much race debate after comments she made about her music.

Another Twitter user compared the current situation to the outrage over Emma Stone playing a woman of Chinese and Hawaiian heritage in the new Cameron Crowe film Aloha, writing; 'Obviously, Emma Stone has to play #RachelDolezal in the inevitable film about this mess.'

Greg Bennett, who would frequently pop up on the Bravo reality show Real Housewives of New Jersey when Caroline Manzo was still a cast member, wrote; 'In NJ people would have just said "Why is that girl with the bad spray tan wearing a Sideshow Bob wig?"'

Then there are the people who were flabbergasted by Dolezal's commitment, including one person who wrote; 'Her Instagram name is afrocentricfemme. She was in this for the long haul.'

On a more serious note, Mia Farrow brought it around to the recent Caitlyn Jenner news, writing; 'We accept that a person can identify as transgender. Could 'trans-ethnic' be a real thing?'

Dolezal gave an interview about the controversy Friday, saying of her detractors; "I don't give two shi*s what you guys think." You are so far done, and out, of my life'

When pressed further about her race, she told KREM; 'I actually don't like the term African-American. I prefer black, and I would say that if I was asked I would definitely say that yes I do consider myself to be black.'

As for the outcry over her race, Dolezal said she 'can understand' why some people believe that she misrepresented herself.

She the reiterated earlier statements she had made in which she stressed her need to speak with her NAACP board and the black community about this situation before the public.

'It’s more important for me to clarify that with the black community and with my executive board than it really is to explain it to a community that, quite frankly, don’t really understand the definitions of race and ethnicity,' she explained.

She also urged her critics to 'maybe think about W.E.B Du Bois that said race is usually biological, always cultural.'
