At least one leading couple got together: Mad Max stunt doubles for Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron's met on set in the Namibian desert and are now married with a 14-month old son

It's one of the biggest blockbusters of the year with plenty of thrills and adventure - but no romance.

And although the characters played by Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron - two of Hollywood's hottest stars - in Mad Max never get too close, their stunt doubles did.

Dane, 37, and Dayna, 39, Grant met in the Namibian Desert while acting as stunt doubles for Max and Furiosa while the movie was being filmed.

And whenever things got a bit too dangerous for the movie stars, their doubles would step in and jump into action.

But that wasn't the only action. All the guns and explosions led to a spark between the couple and they fell in love.

After weeks in the Namibian desert and hours spent fighting, taking apart firearms and hanging off racing vehicles, they finally got together.

But it didn't take Dane that long to know how he felt. 

‘I saw Dayna straight away – she was the only girl from New Zealand and she stood out like a sore thumb,’ Dane, 37, from South Africa, told stuff.co.nz. He played Tom Hardy's stunt double before Jacob Tomuri.

‘I saw her bag with her name on it and my opening line was literally, Hi. I see you’re Dayna. I’m Dane”. That was about it,’ he added.

‘We’ve said it before and it’s quite cheesy, but it really was love at first sight. While we were punching each other we were falling for each other – quite rapidly.’

He told The Telegraph: 'Dayna and I had a lot in common with those two characters, meeting for the first time, learning to trust each other under stressful conditions.'

The filming started in May 2012 and the film was finally released last month.

The couple are now married and have a 14-month-old son.
