'They've nailed the brief': Blue Tongues Carly and Leighton win Reno Rumble's final 48-hour bedroom challenge by ONE point as they count down the days to the finale

Being the final 48-hour challenge on Sunday night, it was certainly game on for the two remaining teams on Reno Rumble.

With the task of renovating their assigned master bedroom and guest bedroom, the Redbacks Jess and Ayden went head-to-head with Blue Tongue team members Carly and Leighton.

Ultimately, the Blue Tongues managed to impress the judges the most, finishing just one point ahead of their opposition for their 'contemporary Australian' themed renovations.

Carly and Leighton were awarded 17 out of 20 for their master bedroom and 16.5 out of 20 for their guest bedroom, giving them a total of 33.5 out of 40 which put them just ahead of Jess and Ayden.

Receiving 19 out of 20 for the master bedroom and 13.5 out of 20 for the guest bedroom, Jess and Ayden landed a final score of 32.5 out of 40 which left them one point behind the Blue Tongues, missing out on $10,000 prize money to go towards the charity of their choice.

No doubt thrilled about their victory, Carly and Leighton revealed their chosen charity is Kids Under Cover.

'We are donating a minimum $35,000,' Carly excitedly said in a piece-to-camera.

Given a corner chair, cream throw rug and timber coffee table as their three key items to work with, Carly and Leighton's master bedroom impressed judge Romy Alwill in particular.

'It certainly feel very fresh and upbeat and young,' she remarked as she evaluated the room.

She also commended the pair's colour and material palette as they are 'very popular in contemporary right now'.

Judge Darren Palmer agreed, saying: 'They've nailed the brief in terms of contemporary', though he added he would have liked to see the storage run all the way across the room.

When it came to the guest room, Darren was in awe of its decor straight away.

'I immediately like this room more,' he exclaimed. 'I think this is definitely contemporary Australian.'

But for Romy, the room appeared to be rather distasteful. 'I'm not in love with it at all. Murky is the word that comes up for me.'

The Redbacks were given the brief of classic contemporary with a twist of plantation, the items gifted to them being a classic contemporary lamp and armchair as well as a plantation-style side table.

Upon entering the master bedroom, Darren identified a distinct scent. 'It smells a little timbery,' he said.

'It's a very classic room,' Romy also noted, while Darren added, 'The plantation shutters are bang on brief'.

The judging duo then noticed the team had stripped back the floors and painted them in just two days.

'They were absolutely astonished that you did this in two days,' the show's host Scott Cam informed Jess and Ayden of the judges' commendations.

However their guest bedroom was far from the target.

'It's kind of all over the place,' Darren observed, with Romy agreeing: 'I think I'm with you there'.

According to Scott, the judges' main concern was that 'everything in this room has been thrown together without a thought to the house or the brief'.

Carly and Leighton were excited to see Ben and Jemma join them, while Jess and Ayden were thrilled to hear Kyal and Kara were on board to help them out.
