SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Hurley's ex Arun Nayar is to marry 29-year-old Liz lookalike

Elizabeth Hurley, who celebrated her 50th this week, has received a most unpleasant birthday surprise. Her ex-husband, Arun Nayar, has become engaged to a model who looks uncannily like Hurley in her younger days.

The textiles heir, 50, is to marry 29-year-old brunette Kim Johnson in two ceremonies, just as he did with Hurley in 2007.

Adding salt to Liz’s wounds, the actress turned bikini trader is not expected to be invited to either of the weddings, on the French Riviera and in Arun’s native India.

‘Arun has proposed to Kim and she’s over the moon,’ says Christophe Chalvet, an agent for the model, who has been courted by Nayar since his split from Hurley in 2010. ‘She’s been waiting for this for a long time.’

Grammar school-educated Kim showed off her huge diamond ring at a party at London’s Somerset House this week. The sparkler was created specially and took a year to produce.

‘Kim would be furious if Liz was there,’ claims Chalvet. ‘She doesn’t want to be anywhere near her and hates being compared to her.’

Hurley was married to Nayar for four years and their break-up was disclosed after she was discovered to be enjoying a romance with cricketing lothario Shane Warne.

Happily Liz — who split up with her most recent lover, photographer David Yarrow, last October — is not so desperate that she has to return to her tiresome ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant.

Society spat of the week

Private members’ club 5 Hertford Street has become the watering hole of choice for gentry and royalty, but it was the scene of an incident which was anything but gentlemanly.

YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT

‘Sorry, I have to go now, as I am having a curry with my in-laws, both of whom are younger than me.’

John Cleese, 75, on life with his fourth wife Jennifer, 43.

‘Men are smaller than me, which is irritating, and which they don’t seem to like.’

Comedienne Miranda Hart, who is 6ft 1in.

‘I hate when people call me Dave. Your name gets shortened when you’re a teenager, so people who know me from back then can call me that. But I don’t accept it from anyone else.’

Pink Floyd guitarist David (not Dave) Gilmour.

‘If I was hit by a bus and had to have all my clothes cut off and I was wearing sexy lingerie underneath I’d be quite proud.’

Singer Camilla Kerslake, girlfriend of rugby star Chris Robshaw.

Jeweller Celia Weinstock was presenting her latest collection upstairs at the Mayfair joint when a smartly dressed City figure, Nick Oppenheim, burst in, insisting he had reserved the room and ordering them out. One member says: ‘Celia generously offered to be out in ten minutes, to which he barked: “I’ll give you five.”

‘When a heavily pregnant woman told him to stop being so rude, he suggested taking the argument outside. It was appalling. Thankfully, there’s talk he might get suspended.’

Oppenheim insists: ‘I haven’t been suspended. There was a small misunderstanding . . . It’s all been sorted out now.’

Blair shifts £2million as fortune grows

While taxpayers are reportedly picking up a bill of as much as £16,000 per week for Tony Blair’s security detail to follow him around the world, the perma-tanned former PM continues to amass cash at a staggering rate.

Latest accounts reveal he used one of his mysterious global network of companies to invest more than £2 million in another of his firms. Companies House papers show Firerush Ventures Ltd has received the cash injection from Windrush Ventures Ltd. The money has taken the form of shares priced at £10 each.

A spokesman says: ‘As is common practice in companies, Firerush VL has issued shares to reinvest for growth.’ His ambition known no bounds.

A baby to make Harry broody

Prince Harry, 30, said last month that he’d ‘love to settle down . . . and have kids’, and soon he’ll be even more broody. His good friend, bloodstock agent Jake Warren, is to become a father.

The 28-year-old son of the Queen’s racing manager John Warren tied the knot with yoga instructor Zoe Stewart in 2013 at a wedding attended by Princess Beatrice and Cressida Bonas. ‘I am just over three months, so still early days,’ Zoe, 30, tells me.

Jake’s godmother, Princess Diana, would have been thrilled. Perhaps Harry should be the godfather?

Low behaviour in high places

For 192 years, the Oxford Union has been one of the most venerable debating forums in the world, with Sir Winston Churchill, President Ronald Reagan and the Dalai Lama among its speakers.

Until, that is, Made In Chelsea ‘star’ Ollie Locke rolled in to town. Bisexual Ollie, 27, was invited to debate the motion: ‘This house would rather be witty than pretty.’ Discussing his ‘pulling’ days at Oxford, he stripped to his underwear.

‘It was quite a shock, seeing as most of us were in black tie,’ says one student. ‘We were worried he was going to take his pants off too.’
