'She didn't get the support she needed': Nicole Scherzinger 'dropped by record label' after second album struggles to make impact on UK chart

Her difficult second album was supposed to establish her as a leading international artist, but Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly been dropped by her record label following a disappointing run of sales.

The 36-year-old singer is believed to have parted ways with RCA Records after sophomore release Big Fat Lie struggled to get a foothold on the UK album chart – where it managed just two weeks in the top 100.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘There is a feeling that Nicole didn’t get the support she needed on the release to make it a success. Fans have been grumbling that they didn’t think the right singles were released by the label.’

Nicole had hoped for chart success with her latest album after collaborating with a string of top producers – amongst them will.i.am, Dallas Austin and Beyoncé collaborator Toby Gad.

But despite calling on major talent to help craft her latest offering its slew of singles failed to make an impact.

While lead single Your Love climbed to number six, follow-up Run reached a dismal 46 before the ironically titled On The Rocks – her third release from the album – limped to number 90.

‘It’s unlikely Nicole will be out of a record deal in the UK for long and she is still signed to Epic in the US,’ the source insisted.

MailOnline have contacted Nicole's representatives for further comment.

The news comes mid-way through a difficult year for Nicole, who split with on-off Formula 1 driver boyfriend Lewis Hamilton in February.

She explained: 'Sometimes people stay in relationships because they get complacent, because it's comfortable for them, because they don't want to be alone.

'It's a new chapter in my life. I'm going through a very transformative time in my life.'

She added to that she is now focusing on finding the real meaning to her life - but suggested that the door is always open for a reconciliation.

In the interview with People.com, she added: 'For me, what's helped me to get through this is I'm a quite spiritual person.

'It's grounded me, and I realize that I do have a great purpose in life. If relationships or people in your lives are meant to be, then they will come back around, but that shouldn't be what's holding you back.

'A lot of the time when you're in a relationship, you lose yourself and you lose who you are and what makes you special. You're always putting all your energy on someone else, so find yourself again. Build yourself back up [and] be that big, radiant light.'
