It appears Olivia Wilde can stop traffic even with her face hidden behind sunglasses.

The 31-year-old actress looked happy and carefree as she stepped out for lunch with a friend in New York's Cafe Cluny on Thursday.

Perfecting off-duty summer chic, the star paired a simple sleeveless blue and white plaid shirt with a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, showing off her shapely legs.

Casual chic: Olivia Wilde turned heads in New York as she stepped out for lunch with a friend on Thursday

Carrying a casual tote bag slung over her shoulder, she kept her eyes hidden behind a pair of tinted Ray-Ban sunglasses.

And the star showed how to dress for the summer by glamming up her casual attire with a pair of brown chunky-strapped platform sandals.

Wearing her caramel-coloured locks straight, Olivia kept her make-up minimal and looked fresh-faced as she walked around the streets of the West Village with a smile on her face.

The Tron actress is clearly loving life at the moment and took to Instagram on Wednesday to show off an adorable snap of her enjoying a splash in a fountain with her one-year-old son at Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York.

Just a couple months ago, the actress threw her a birthday party for Otis, whose father is Olivia's fiancé Jason Sudeikis.

The couple began dating in November 2011 and got engaged in January 2013.

The mother-of-one took to Instagram with a photo of herself sprawled on a stuffed dog, looking exhausted, captioning the picture: 'One year old birthday party semi-survivor.'

While her family life appears perfect, the actress will not be returning to the Tron movie series after starring in Tron: Legacy in 2010.

Disney has reportedly decided not to continue with a third instalment of the franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But Olivia has been busy working with director David Darg and co-producer Bryn Mooser on a documentary on ebola.

She and her documentary team debuted Body Team 12 at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, s short film about workers who collect the dead from the streets of the Ebola zone in West Africa.

And Olivia previously helped Darg and Mooser produce documentaries on cholera, poverty in Haiti, and Hurricane Sandy.
