The old adage that blondes have more fun appeared to ring true on Friday afternoon as Alex Jones stepped out in London.

Sporting a bouffant hair-piece, the 38-year-old was almost unrecognisable as she prepared to shoot a comical scene as throaty rock singer Bonnie Tyler for The One Show.

Seemingly taken with her blonde wig, Alex sported a beaming grin while preparing to take part in a filmed lip-sync battle with Irish TV presenter Patrick Kielty.

The Welsh star kept her outfit hidden beneath a white dressing gown as the pair chatted amongst themselves prior to shooting the scene.

Conversely, Kielty appeared happy to show off his own ensemble - a denim skirt and embellished leather waistcoat.

Alex later traded her outfit for a more conventional white top and skinny jeans teamed with a collarless black jacket as she made her way out of BBC studios ahead of a guest appearance on relaunched Channel 4 show T.F.I Friday.

It has been several months since Alex announced her engagement to fiancé Charlie Thompson, but recently admitted that she and her fiancé haven't set a date yet.

'We haven't set a date, I don't know if it's a thing? Is that what you do when you get engaged?' the Welsh presenter said during an appearance on ITV1's Lorraine.

Lorraine then reassured her: 'I think people sort of expect you [to get married] at some point, maybe in a year or two I guess.'

Specs appeal: At one point the host kept her eyes shielded behind a pair of safety goggles

Alex said: 'We're very relaxed, I mean disorganised really. So mum is pushing.

'She said, "You know we could do this by the end of the year if you and Charlie get a move on."'

'But we haven't looked at anywhere but it would be nice to do it within the next few months.'

She added: '(The wedding will) be just with our close friends and family and a day when everybody can have a bit of a laugh.'
