'The newest accessory for any budding pirate!' Kaya Scodelario jokes about her 'bling sling' after injuring arm on Pirates set weeks after Johnny Depp broke his wrist

Recent events would suggest the Queensland set of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean installment may be cursed, but it seems leading lady Kaya Scodelario doesn't really mind.

The Skins actress injured her left arm after falling on the Dead Men Tell No Tales set last week and is already preparing to return to work armed with her 'bling sling'.

Laughing off concern about the incident, which comes just weeks after leading man Johnny Depp broke his wrist, the 23-year-old joked her arm sling is 'the newest must have accessory for any budding pirate'.

'Seriously though, thanks to all the kind well wishers! I'm all good. Back to work.. It'll take more than a little injury to bring this North London girl down!!'

Kaya also revealed she's been relying on a generous dose of sweet treats to help her through the pain, writing: 'eating my body weight in doughnuts and chocolate like the doctor said to do is really helping'.

The brunette stunner, who is best known for playing Effy Stonem in British teen drama Skins, is following in Keira Knightley's footsteps by taking on the female lead in the rebooted Pirates' films.

She has often been spotted on set on the Gold Coast with co-star Johnny dressed in full pirates garb.

She can be usually seen in a blue gown complete with a corset waist, layered skirt and three-quarter sleeves, while swapping lines with Captain Jack Sparrow.

Kaya's accident on set is the latest bit of bad luck to hit the latest installment of the Pirates' franchise.

Filming was suspended in March for a number of weeks when Johnny reportedly snapped his wrist while go-karting on a private track at five-time MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan’s luxurious Coomera property on March 10.

The fifth film will see Captain Jack Sparrow pursued by rival, Salazar, who along with his ghost pirate crew has escaped from the Bermuda Triangle and vows to kill every pirate at sea.

The film is due for release in July 2017.
