FamilySearch Evaluation

Evaluate New and Future FamilySearch Concepts

What Will I Be Doing?

You will evaluate new and future concepts of the FamilySearch website as well as its other products. Evaluations will be conducted from your home, office or wherever you access the Internet for about an hour. Family history experience is not required. In fact we especially need the perspective of those new to family history as we work to make it more engaging for everyone.

How Will I Make a Difference?

The insight you provide will directly impact the FamilySearch experience. Your comments will come right at the time changes are being made. The FamilySearch website is never truly finished. Your participation will help us make family history easier and more enjoyable.

Completing the sign-up survey will automatically place you into our volunteer pool. If you are randomly selected you will receive an invitation with instructions to your e-mail address at that time.

By filling out the sign-up survey you are providing your agreement to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

    Use of My Information

Your information will be kept strictly confidential. We will not share it with anyone who is not directly involved in the evaluation. Personal contact information will only be used to invite participants and ask follow-up questions.

    Evaluation Location

Evaluations take place from your home or from wherever you connect to the Internet. The one-on-one evaluations will require you to be able to speak on the phone while using your computer connected to the Internet. Occasionally we will send out self-paced surveys that will only require a connection to the Internet.

    LDS Church Affiliation

FamilySearch is a service provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, however anyone can register to evaluate FamilySearch products. For most evaluations, membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not required to participate. When evaluating products or features designed specifically for LDS Church members, membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints may be used as a selection criterion for those evaluations.

    Length of Evaluation

Most evaluations last about an hour. If a conflict occurs during the evaluation, we will work with you to adjust the evaluation time accordingly.

    Lack of Participation

Regrettably, due to the large number of evaluation volunteers, we will not be able to use everyone who signs up as an evaluator. Completing the survey will automatically place you into our volunteer pool. You will not receive any additional communication confirming your registration. If your name is randomly selected from our volunteer pool to participate, we will send you an invitation and instructions to your email address. This email will specify a range of days when the evaluation will take place.

If you are available during the days specified, then reply to the email indicating your interest to participate. If you are not available, then simply ignore the email. No further response is needed. In both cases, your name will remain in the volunteer pool for future evaluations.

    Already Signed-up

If you have already signed-up to participate in the evaluation, nothing further is needed from you. Your information will remain on file until you email us to cancel your participation.

    Update My Information

The easiest way to update your information is to reregister by filling out the sign-up survey again. Our list of participants is regularly reviewed to remove duplicate registrations.

    Cancel Participation

To cancel participation, contact us at evaluation@familysearch.org and inform us you would like to be removed as an evaluation participant.
