Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Posted on March 10, 2015

mothers-day-gift-guide-new

Hi Guys!

Ok so I have to admit, I only just found out yesterday that it was Mother’s Day this Sunday. I could have sworn it was next weekend, what an idiot. So I must apologise for the lateness of this post!

I’ve gathered together a load of fantastic gift ideas to inspire you, that hopefully most Mum’s would love. These are either things I have, or have used or tried before, and all are items that I love, so here we go…

Firstly, you can’t go wrong with flowers for Mother’s Day, can you? This lovely bouquet from Appleyard Flowers includes pink sorbonne oriental lilies with avalanche roses and blush sugar flair hypericum. And what about candles? I can’t get enough of candles at the moment and one of my current favourites for a pamper evening is the Indulgence Scented Candle from Neal & Wolf, it has a beautiful and relaxing scent.

If you’re looking for skincare gifts, this Calcot Manor Tubs of Softness Set from Tesco is a fantastic bargain, but if you’re happy to splash the cash I’d highly recommend the beautiful Repose Night Cream from Templespa – this beautiful aromatherapy resting cream is specifically made to calm your skin and your soul. It’s rich in natural plant extracts, anti-oxidants and contains a fusion of relaxing essential oils to leave the complexion ultra-smooth and settled. Another option is the Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub Advanced from Space NK, this is a deep penetrating exfoliating treatment for oily prone complexions that really does reveal clearer-looking skin.

I always make sure I give my Mum a card for Mother’s Day. She’s always said she doesn’t mind about a gift but she does like a nice card! This beautiful Personalised Papercut Card from StudioSeed combines sophistication with pretty details, I know she’ll love to receive this! Carrying on with more traditional gifts, what about this gorgeous Silver Linked Heart Bracelet from Tales From The Earth? Or the mouth wateringly delicious Gold Collection Chocolate Selection from Godiva? Jewellery and chocs are always greatly received on holidays!

And lastly, my favourite perfume right now – Resort by Elie Saab from Selfridges. If you haven’t yet, you need to try this! It smells exactly like an exotic holiday and I really can’t get enough of it. And on that note Molton Brown’s Blossoming Honeysuckle & White Tea Body Gift Set would also make a fantastic gift, I love Molton Brown’s scents, they really do give you the most luxurious bath and leave me in a contested happy mood for the evening.

I hope this has given you some Mother’s Day gift ideas! xxx

Two New Looks For Spring…

Posted on February 26, 2015

Hi Guys!

I absolutely love fashion, and I’m now trying to add more fashion type posts to my blog – the thing I’m having a problem with though is the fact that I can’t take photos of myself! I don’t have anyone around that can take photos for me, so I need to look into a remote for my camera, and get a tripod! (If anyone can recommend a remote, please let me know) In the mean time I quite like putting looks and outfits together – on my kitchen floor for the time being! :) Here are a couple I’ve done with some of the awesome new things I’ve acquired lately, I’ve put together one casual look and one for evening!

casual-accessories

I bought this lovely top in the F&F sale at Christmas, it was reduced to £6 or something and I wear it all the time, it’s slightly baggy so it covers everything up and I love the gold shoulder detail, it also has an exposed zip detail at the back. Wins all round!! I’m also obsessed with necklaces, and I love this pretty triangle stone necklace which I bought from Topshop ages ago, and I happened to recently stumble across in a drawer so I haven’t actually worn yet. For a toned down casual look I’ve started to wear these gorgeous Safari Boots from Calzados Victoria – they have the softest furry lining and I definitely prefer wearing them folded down rather than laced up to the top for a more relaxed look. I’m also part of Access All ASOS, they set up a secret santa blogger gift swap at Christmas, where they gave everyone involved a £15 voucher to spend on the site to buy gifts for someone else, what a lovely idea! Except my parcel never arrived :( so they kindly gave me the voucher to buy something for myself, they’re good guys at ASOS! I treated myself to these awesome Cat Eye Sunglasses, a bargain at a tenner, and the scarf in the below pic :) The pink and blue scarf is also from ASOS a looong time ago.

going-out-accessories

And this is my going out look! I’m in love with these amazing Cassie Cut out Ankle Boots from Online Avenue, they literally tick all the boxes for me – gold details, cut outs and a platform, check, check and check, and they’re a complete bargain at just over £20 too! I bought the Pieces Jine Oversized Floral Scarf from ASOS as it just has such a lovely pattern. I literally live in scarves most of the year! I also included this pretty Crackle Stone & Rope Chain Necklace from New Look (sorry it’s not available any more) and if you look closely you’ll see it’s missing a stone, arrgh!! I always manage to damage or break my necklaces!

And lastly, I had to include my gorgeous new Ingrid Medium Leather Bag from Baginc, ahh I can’t get enough of it! It’s pretty much a spot on dupe for the Chanel Boy which I’ve needed in my life and desperately lusted after for a long time now, but unfortunately my budget doesn’t quite fit with the £2.6k price tag, ouch! The beautiful Ingrid bag is made of real leather and apart from the lack of branding, which I really don’t mind (it also means it’s not a copy or fake) it’s SO similar to the Chanel. I think I can live without the designer version now, I can’t wait to take my Ingrid out!

I’d love to hear what you think of my two looks? And I promise I’ll have some full outfit posts coming up soon! xxx

Valentine’s Gift Guide For Her

Posted on February 13, 2015

valentines-gift-ideas

Hi Guys!

Following on from my Valentine’s Bright Lips post, I also have another Valentine’s post for you – this time it’s a gift guide! I’m hoping this will give you gift ideas to give and receive, and cover a wide variety of budgets to suit everyone. Enjoy xx

valentines-candle

Arran Aromatics Stargazer Valentine’s Candle – £20 from Arran Aromatics

It’s only over the last year or so that I’ve really gotten into candles. I have one burning most evenings and I just love how they fragrance my home. I have to say I don’t think I’d bother using a candle unless it was scented now. I’ve come across some really lovely fragrances and one that goes to the top of my list is definitely this Valentine’s limited edition Stargazer candle from Arran Aromatics.

valentines-gold-love-ring

Love Ring – £15 from Zara Taylor

This super cute Love ring comes in gold, rose gold and silver plate, and it also has a small gap at the back to fit a variety of finger sizes. I should mention this ring is on the small size without being opened up or pushed closed, it fits my ring finger which is a UK I / J. This is such a pretty ring and would make a lovely token gift.

valentines-bunny

Bunny cotton wool dispenser – £9.99 from truffleshuffle

I really love gifts that are different, fun and unusual. Yes I’d quite like a nice bunch of flowers and maybe some chocs for V day, but a ceramic bunny cotton wool dispenser where the cotton wool balls make up the bunny’s tail? Yes please! It’s not something you’d automatically think of but it’s definitely bound to raise a smile – this will be living on my desk from now on!

valentines-nyx-palette

NYX Love in Paris Palette in Let Them Eat Cake – £10 from NYX Cosmetics

NYX are a fairly new brand to me, I love their Matte lipsticks and I’ve also started using their Butter glosses, which I’ll be posting about soon. This super cute Love in Paris palette contains nine flattering, easy to wear shades, and it’s also the perfect compact size to fit in your makeup bag.

valentines-deborah-lipmann-polish

Deborah Lipmann Nail Polish in Chantilly Lace – £16 from Harrods.

If you’re looking for a slightly more subtle gift for Valentine’s, this beautiful polish from Deborah Lipmann’s Whisper collection should do the trick. Chantilly Lace is just the prettiest shade of barely there baby pink, with an iridescent pink shimmer that looks beautiful when it catches the light.

valentines-007-fragrance-review

007 Fragrance for Women – £24.50 from The Fragrance Shop

Ok I’l admit it, I’m not a James Bond fan, he just doesn’t do it for me. Perfume on the other hand though, yes please! 007 for Women is a brand new fragrance that supposedly captures the heady power of the Bond Woman. I’m not sure about that but I can tell you I LOVE this perfume. It’s fruity, but also floral, with black vanilla, white musk and cedarwood, and it’s just me to a T. If you like more intense, seductive evening scents, this will definitely be for you too.

valentines-horseshoe-necklace

Mini Rose Gold Horseshoe Necklace – £42.00 by Gemma J at Jewel Street

I’m a massive fan of rose gold jewellery, and this beautiful horseshoe necklace would go down a treat as the perfect gift for Valentines day. A dainty horseshoe, a symbol of good luck, hangs from a pretty fine rose gold chain – and this would also look gorgeous layered with other necklaces.

valentines-ted-baker-nails

Ted Baker Faked To Perfection Artificial Nails – £8.00 from Boots

Ted Baker gifts are EVERYTHING and these nails really are faked to perfection. With a modern, easy to wear short nail length and slightly squared off tip, these falsies are just perfect for prettying up your digits this Valentine’s day. The baby pink nail colour with metallic rose gold tips are so Ted Baker – just team them with a TB bag and prepare to dazzle!

So there we have it! I hope this post has given you some inspiration whether your buying or receiving this Valentine’s day :)

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

The Winter To Spring Transition

Posted on February 3, 2015

spring wishlist_edited-1

Hi Guys!

So it’s now turned February (Where did January actually go?) and the weather seems to be getting worse here. It’s been chucking it down and snowing, you know those really big wet flakes of snow that just make you wet through and freezing cold? Yeah that. It’s really pretty miserable with no hints of warmth or sunshine, so with the optimism that better weather is on it’s way, I’ve been immersing myself in online window shopping.

Due to over indulging in the money sense at Christmas I’ve now put myself on a spending ban – so why is it that I still keep browsing my favourite sites and filling up my basket with clothes and accessories that I’ve told myself I can’t buy!? Anyway, I thought I’d put together a little list of some of the things that recently have caught my eye, from cosy wooly jumpers to beautiful jewellery pieces, and an amazing oil slick coloured leather bag – at least I can still window shop for now!

I’d love to hear if you have your eye on anything to cheer yourself up in this dreary weather?

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

This is a collaborative post.
