BRIAN WILLIAMS - REPORTS SAY HE WON'T RETURN TO NBC "NIGHTLY NEWS"

NEW YORK (AP) -- Looks like that suspension of Brian Williams from the NBC "Nightly News" anchor chair is going to be a permanent one. Both The New York Times and CNN are reporting Williams won't return to his job -- after he was sat down for misrepresenting his role in a news story. The misstatements -- or lies as, some called them -- centered on whether a helicopter he was in while covering the Iraq war was fired upon. The focus on that story led to an investigation into other statements that seemed to stretch the truth. NBC is expected to make an announcement on Williams' future today. Since Williams was idled, Lester Holt has been subbing -- and is considered the front-runner for the job if Williams loses his.

AP Ross Simpson reports Brian Williams won't be returning to the NBC Nightly News anchor desk.

MELISSA RIVERS - "FASHION POLICE"

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Melissa Rivers is stepping out from behind the scenes to take a spot in front of the camera on "Fashion Police" -- the show her mother worked on until she died last year. E! says Rivers will join Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski when the show returns next month. Melissa Rivers had been executive producer of the show -- a job she'll continue to hold. Joan Rivers died last September at 81 after complications from minor throat surgery.

DONALD TRUMP DITCHES SONG

NEW YORK (AP) -- Donald Trump has said "you're fired" to the song he used to help launch his presidential campaign. The former host of "The Apprentice" drew the ire of Neil Young for using "Rockin' In the Free World" during his Tuesday announcement in New York. Young is a Canadian who supports a Democratic candidate -- and says he didn't approve the use of the song by Trump. Rather than keep the flap going, a press secretary says Trump will ditch the Young song -- but is still a fan.

TARAJI P. HENSON - AWARDS

NEW YORK (AP) -- It's the time of year when stars of hit TV shows start wondering if they or their shows will get some Emmy love. A likely candidate for a nod for best actress in a drama is Taraji P. Henson for her work on "Empire." But she says she won't be stressing over whether she gets a call. She says while she respects the Emmys and would be honored to be recognized, getting an Emmy nod isn't her "driving force." She says she got into acting because "art is very powerful" -- in that it can touch and change lives. Emmy nominations come out July 16.

Taraji P. Henson says she tries to focus on the work of being an artist, not the accolades that come from it.

NICOLE KIDMAN - EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- When she received an acting award the other day, Nicole Kidman whipped out a shower cap and said she'd kiss any woman in the room. Perhaps that requires an explanation. It seems when Kidman was a young actress, she was offered a role by Jane Campion -- one in which she was had to wear a shower cap and kiss a girl. Kidman turned the gig down because the role didn't fit her ideal of being an actress. So when she received an honor Tuesday at the Women in Film's Crystal / Lucy Awards, she declared she was no longer afraid to take risks -- and urged other women to do the same. In case you're wondering, Naomi Watts, who presented the award, took Kidman up on the offer to lock lips.

MICHAEL DOUGLAS - ISRAEL

JERUSALEM (AP) -- Michael Douglas says there was one little problem when he found out he was getting what considered the "Jewish Nobel Prize" -- he isn't Jewish, at least under strict religious law. No problem -- he's in Jerusalem to receive the Genesis Prize this week. The honor comes with a $1 million prize. Douglas says he will use the money to build ties between Israel and Jewish communities around the world.

COLLEGE IN BOSTON TO OFFER COMEDY COURSE

BOSTON (AP) -- This gives new meaning to the term "class clown." Emerson College in Boston will offer a degree in comedy. Starting next fall, the communications and arts school will become the first school to offer a four-year bachelor's for a comedic arts degree. The course work will focus on the history and theory of comedy -- with the idea of prepping students for careers in comedy performance, writing and production. Emerson has some famous alumni who've made a name for themselves in comedy -- like Jay Leno, Denis Leary, Steven Wright and producer Norman Lear.

Emerson College is creating something to laugh at, as the AP's Jamie Friar reports.

"COMPLICATIONS" MAKES DEBUT TONIGHT

ATLANTA (AP) -- It's a medical drama -- appropriately titled "Complications." But the star of the USA Network show that makes its debut tonight says most of the action is personal, not medical. Jason O'Mara says while there are the usual medical scenes featuring his character, an ER doctor, and his trusty nurse -- most of the drama in Complications "happens outside of the hospital." Jessica Szohr stars as the nurse.
