'We're no longer together': Married At First Sight's Lachlan reveals he's split from 'dream woman' Clare... as James confirms he's been in close contact with Roni

Their explosive fights and temper tantrums throughout their time on Married At First Sight made their decision to stay together on Monday night's finale somewhat hard to swallow.

So fans of the polarising reality series won't be surprised to hear that 12 months after filming wrapped up on the show, farmer Lachlan and his brunette wife Clare have gone their separate ways.

The charming country gentleman, who has amassed a large female following, broke the news on Tuesday's A Current Affair where he revealed the negatives outweighed positives.

'Clare and I are no longer together,' he told the program.

'While ever it was good, while there was good times there was also some times that weren't good.

Describing his feisty former flame as a 'caring, loving person', he added that they still catch up.

'I'm still in contact with Clare, we're still friends, we caught up a couple of weeks ago,' he said, 'I think it is hard when you do form a bond with someone as well to maintain a very close friendship.'

The 36-year-old is definitely still on the market however, and judging by the response women have had to his television appearance, it won't be for long.

Lachlan, who has had cosmetic surgery on his nose since appearing on the show, recently revealed he has ladies queuing up to date him.

Speaking to TheFIX, he revealed: 'I hear from my friends or from other people about women trying to get my details and stuff like that.'

But it's not just the single ladies who have taken a liking to him as the cattle farmer has also been approached by other men and told their wives are besotted with him.

He explained: 'They come up to me and tell me their wives are in love with me.'

It had been speculated that Lachlan and Clare, 37, were expecting a child together, a claim Channel Nine denied.

A show insider told New Idea producers were trying to keep Clare's 'pregnancy' a secret until the TV show finished airing.

'The whole point of the show is to see whether this dating experiment worked, and whether the couples stay together,' the insider told the magazine.

'So the last thing they need is Clare and Lachlan going public with a baby bump. But it's all anyone can talk about behind the scenes on the show. It's really exciting.'

On Monday night's finale Clare revealed that she was in love with Lachlan, but didn't have the courage to open up to him about it.

'There's been a few times where I have silently said to him, "I love you", but I haven't said it out loud. I've said it in the past and it hasn't been returned,' she said.

When it came time to reveal whether or not she had decided to stay with him at the end of the experiment, she told him: 'You have quickly become somebody who's really important and special in my life.

'Nothing is ever perfect part for the most part everything that is important is there, and I would really like for us to continue and have chapter two.'

Lachlan agreed and in a clip taken two months after the decision, he described her as 'definitely my dream woman'.

'We want to spend the rest of our lives together,' he said.

Meanwhile, James, who revealed he and his fellow sport loving wife Michelle had called it quits just weeks after cameras stopped rolling, confirmed rumours he has been spending time with another contestant - Roni.

The pair are in 'close contact' after Roni bowed out of her relationship with Michael in episode five.

Michelle on the other hand, has already moved on with a former love and became a bride for a second time.
