  • Niagara Bottling says the operator of a spring in Pennsylvania failed to quickly declare the presence of the bug there
  • The other brands are Acadia, Acme, Big Y, Best Yet, 7-11, Niagara, Nature's Place, Pricerite, Morning Fresh, Superchill, Western Beef Blue
  • No E.coli has been found in any botttled water or in the water delivered to Niagara Bottling's factory, it said

Niagara Bottling has recalled 14 brands of bottled spring water produced at two Pennsylvania manufacturing plants after the operator of one of them failed to notify the company of an E.coli outbreak.

The bacteria, which can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramping, nausea and vomiting, was found in the water supply of the contractor on June 10, the company said.

However, there has been no E. coli contamination detected in any finished products or in the spring water delivered to the company's bottling facility, it added.

It has not received any complaints of illness or injury.

Contamination fears: Niagara is among Niagara Bottling's brands. The company is recalling spring-water products made at Hamburg and Allentown, Pennsylvania, between 3am on June 10 and 8pm on June 18

Niagara Bottling LLC is recalling spring-water products made at two plants in Pennsylvania between 3am Eastern on June 10 and 8pm on June 18.

The facilities are located in Hamburg and Allentown.

The recalled water is labeled under the following brands: Acadia, Acme, Big Y, Best Yet, 7-11, Niagara, Nature's Place, Pricerite, Superchill, Morning Fresh, Shaws, Shoprite, Western Beef Blue and Wegman's.

Consumers should not drink the affected water without boiling it first to kill bacteria and any other organisms. The company also suggests using other bottled water.

Niagara Bottling is no longer using the spring source because the operator did not notify the company of the incident in a timely manner.

Consumers can phone Niagara Bottling at 877-487-7873 for more information.
