Berry unusual: Stunned farmer posts photograph of a strawberry shaped exactly like a CHICKEN

  • Reuben and April Welch found the unusual fruit on their farm in Scotland
  • Its shape makes it look like it has a chicken's head and wings plus a nest
  • The farmers joked: 'Going to have to eat this chicken as it hasn't laid a single bloody egg yet'

This bizarre strawberry is shaped exactly like a chicken - with a head, wings and even a beak.

The unusual fruit was found at Grove Farm in Bonnyrigg, near Edinburgh, when the farmers were harvesting strawberry plants in time for summer.

Reuben and April Welch spotted that the berry has a protrusion which looks like a bird's head, as well as two smaller lumps resembling wings.

When turned upside down, the attached leaves make it look as if the 'chicken' is sitting on a nest.

The light-hearted couple tore off a small portion of leaf and put it in position to look like a beak as well.

They took a photograph of the unique strawberry, and posted it on the Facebook page for Grove Farm.

They captioned the image: 'Going to have to eat this chicken as it hasn't laid a single bloody egg yet.'

Other social media users were delighted by the discovery and quick to crack their own jokes about the strawberry's shape.

Catherine Procter advised: 'Just behead it, quick and painless.'

And Muriel Brady added: 'Aw love it!! We have chickens but no strawberry ones.'

Mr and Mrs Welch have transformed Grove Farm from a near-ruin into a working farm over the past few years after moving there with their children.
