She's famously coy about her private life and rarely gives interviews, but Victoria Beckham has proven just how down-to-earth she is in a candid new insight into her life.

The 41-year-old fashion designer, who is known and loved in the industry for her witty sense of humour, has shared her guide to summer with The Telegraph - and she's a lot more normal than you'd think.

Despite having millions in the bank, a beautiful family and a stellar fashion empire, Victoria proves she can laugh at herself and the pitfalls that come with being in the public eye.

Indeed, the mother and designer wants to set the record straight for people who believe she lathers her skin in bad bronzers and insists she can't help it if she looks as if she is wearing fake tan as that's simply her 'natural colour'.

She said: 'I'd like it on record that all the times I've been criticised for wearing dodgy orange fake tans, that's my natural colour. I go brown very quickly, so I tend to whip my legs out at the first sign of sun. I'm not big on fake bronzers.'

Though the mother of four - who has Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10 and three-year-old Harper with her husband David Beckham - admits she would be open to trying out new tanning products if she could be sure they wouldn't result in an unsightly 'streaky' effect.

The former Spice Girl - who has just launched her pre-spring 2016 Victoria Beckham collection - also revealed that she packs an 'essential' £10 Dynaband elastic work-out band in her case when she jets off on holiday.

'You’re going to be baring your arms. Sling this in your case and you can use it to tone your biceps, triceps wherever you are. It’s good for legs too,' she said.

The stylish star also said she swears by loose-fitting clothes and avoids anything tight. She also takes the 'less is more' approach to her beauty regime, explaining that she avoids foundation and opts for tinted moisturiser instead.

She cites her make-up must-haves as the £28 This Works No Wrinkles Time Dose face mask, a pink-nude lip-liner, lip balm and ND’s Shellac Nude Knickers varnish.

As for beachwear, the humble star explained that she likes to protects her hair from the sun when she's abroad - and she has a somewhat unusual method for fighting off the SPF rays.

'It’s a turban for me,' she said. 'I’d rather I didn’t run into anyone from the fashion world, though.'

The 41-year-old former pop star, who has won countless accolades for her design efforts, has brightened things up with splashes of tangerine, zesty lemon and bold blue.

She cites the 'striking colour combinations and graphic motifs of fairground iconography' as the inspiration behind her latest offering.

Shapes are more fluid, with flowing maxis, billowing sleeves and slouchy capes, which cost around £900 and will filter into stores just before Christmas.

The classic black shapes she loves are omnipresent but the star has added splashes of colour and print to her circus-inspired collection

Speaking to Vogue about her latest collection for her sister line, the star said: 'The Victoria, Victoria Beckham category has always reflected the other side of my wardrobe and this season has further developed with the integration of the denim collection and a broad range of separates for the first time.

'I focused on creating pieces that are easy to wear but still feel special. There is still a sense of fun within the collection and I am excited to see it to continue to develop and evolve into what I believe is a unique proposition for my customers wardrobe.'

Whilst her professional life has been keeping her busy, the doting mother hasn't let her personal life feel the effects.

The mother-of-four says that this line has always reflected the other side of her wardrobe, which she's been giving us a flavour of in recent months

This season has seen the star integrate the denim collection and a broad range of separates for the first time

David and Victoria enjoyed some bonding time with their adorable daughter Harper in London on Tuesday.

The couple stepped out for coffee in West London, accompanied by the youngest of their brood, three-year-old Harper, who, as usual, stole the show from her famous mother and father.

Last week saw the sale of stylish tot Harper's mini designer outfits to raise money for charity Save The Children.

Outfits worn by three-year-old featured items from designers including Chloe, Roksanda Ilincic, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Charlotte Olympia.

The range - which was put on display at Mary's Living and Giving store, owned by Queen of the Shops Mary Portas - was curated personally by Mrs Beckham.
